The receptionist, Aqua, was very friendly and polite. She made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble for her. Our room was very pretty and tastefully decorated. We just sank into the feather bed which was so comfortable with feather pillows too :) The breakfast was delicious, we just had the complimentary continental breakfast, the fruit salad was great, the nuts and dried fruit were lovely too, loads of choice, they really do think of everything, even a choice of diddy pots o.
all reviews » Spacious well-lit room with nice television. Location of the hotel was ideal for the seafront (where the new parkrun on Saturday mornings will be taking place). They put on an early continental breakfast (7am) for us which was considerate. There is off-street parking but can imagine that this is tight when hotel fully-booked. From the moment we arrived the service and attention to detail was second to none . The Room was beautifully decorated and clean , the food was gorgeous and the extra touches of champagne on ice waiting for us in our Room and the box of chocolates made it extra special . Would most definitely return , fantastic boutique Hotel . Hotel was a very pleasant surprise! Cleanliness of the room was the best Ihave experienced in a very long time. The whole spec of the room was of a higher standard the. We expected. In brief. The place surpassed our expectations. certainly would stay there again without even thinking about it! Thankyou!. Also, the local restaurant montparnasse was by the best restaurant we've ever been too. Don't be fooled by the simple decor and small area, it's out of this world!. Fantastic few days staying in a friendly,characterful hotel. Very comfortable and clean. Aqua the receptionist is a great asset to the hotel. Communication after booking was excellent. Breakfast options were extensive and very well presented. The room was small but beautiful and well equipped. In a great location seconds from the seafront by foot. We were going to a family funeral and arrived early in Portsmouth from Edinburgh.The staff had two rooms ready for us. A group of us returned to the hotel for drinks later and they were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was excellent. The decor, which is thought out well and creative. No fashion slavery here. Also the staff, friendly and unobtrusively helpful. The sense of comfort and comfortable-ness. That the best of Portsmouth and Southsea is walkable from Stattons. - Very close to the Pyramid centre which was the starting point of the Portsmouth coastal waterside marathon 2013. - Also 5 - 10 min walk to restarrants in the Southsea area. - New, clean, and stylish room. - Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely restored mansion with lots of character. Staff excellent and very helpful. We had a superb supper in their sister hotel with free cab.Continental breakfast very good with plenty of variety. We were looking for somewhere for one night arrived late had been given an upgrade as problem with heating or something really nice room clean tidy etc better than your avarage chain hotel everything you could need. On arrival we were very well accepted into the hotel. I found the staff very efficient and friendly and would definitely recommend Stattons to my family and friends if ever they needed to stay in Portsmouth. Staff were friendly, we were due to arrive quite late but were not made to feel like we were an imposition. Bed was very comfy, plenty of space in the room, clean and modern, yet cosy. WiFi throughout. I so enjoyed my 1 day stay at the Sattons. I travelled on my on and treated myself to a larger double room. I loved the roll-top bath in my room(no7) just what I needed after a long day on my bicycle. Staff made me and my partner feel very welcome and comfortable, the bed was extremely comfy and I slept very well, everything was clean and set up well, great value for money. the staff where outstanding and couldnt do enough for us and we had an upgraded room. the whole experiance was very relaxing and would love to stay there again. Try responded to my dietary requests immediately and soya was available from the beginning without reminding often this does not happen in large chains. The only thing we didn't like was the location as I googled hotels close to the Gunwharf Quay and this is quite a trek on foot, but the beauty and comfort of the Statton more than made up for it. Other than a broken shower fitting, no complaints. I believe they are planning a refurbishment shortly so I guess that such things will be addressed. Unfortunately we had no hot water in our shower in the morning. Because we were in a hurry to leave and it was early, we didn't mention this to anyone. It was annoying, but I'm sure had we mentioned it it would have been sorted and wouldn't stop me from staying at the hotel again. Zero. - Breakfast starts at 8am, a bit late for the start time of the marathon (9:00). Plumbing in the room needs attention. The continental breakfast was nice but the full English needs some work for the £9 charge. There was nothing not to like. Think was ok to lock my bike to the rain pipe in the car park but would be nice to have a proper cycle rack ...but was real not a big deal!. I Had the farmers breakfast, I think the farmer went hungry because it was a small portion, only 1 sausage :/ However My partner was very happy with her breakfast. Nothing. My room was really small but adequate for short stays and it was smart and comfortable. 3 storeys tough with heavy bags and computer equipment at the end of a long day - this was clearly stated in the description and not a complaint. Nothing. Room was on third floor up a narrow staircase. Mirrors not user friendly and lighting in bathroom poor. Internet connection was very weak and intermittent. Bedroom very small, also bathroom (tiny washbasin - water went everywhere) No chairs or table in bedroom. Decor very dull in bedroom. Continental breakfast adequate, but no pastries, although on menu. When it said a small single they weren't lying. It was really a small corridor !!!. The concertina door to the bathroom not a lot of privacy. No negatives at all. The shower room was somewhat cramped, and the steep and uneven steps leading up to/from the entrance are potentially dangerous especially in the hours of darkness. This is particularly relevant for people with physical limitations. The front entrance stairs could do with a light for coming in at night. Very tiny space in the toilet. The bedroom was quite small as was the car park. The room was downstairs with the window facing the bin which wasn't very nice. The fact that we had to leave. no door on the bathroom. the shower didn't drain the telly was quite small and far away - difficult to see!. Nothing. quality of bread at breakfast. Nice hotel, but the single room was just too small. Nothing really - wouldn't have minded a dvd player, but not at all desperate. Car parking was fine for us - but could be tight if the hotel was full, and street parking difficult. But stress - was not a problem ofr us.
