Nearly everything!! This hotel is on the river on St George's Quay, a five minute walk to the Castle and into town for Lancaster's bars, restaurants and shops. It has 4 stars from Visit England and deservedly so, Our room although a wee bit on the small side was lovely, well decorated to a good standard as was the bathroom which had a walk in shower that was nice and hot. We had a river view which can be a bit noisy as people are coming and going from the pub all the time, it seemed as busy wit.
all reviews » I booked the Wagon and Horses specifically for its location. We were travelling on the Steam train journey on the Seattle Carlisle railway. It is a 10 minute walk to the station. As a bonus it is right next to an excellent cycle path which takes you to Morecombe. The pub itself is very clean, comfortable and welcoming. We had a very early start for the train (before breakfast started) and so they provided us with a breakfast basket with milk and cereals the night before and as an added bonus, . Staying at Wagon & Horses was one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had. Staff was friendly, personable, & helpful. Food was delicious. Full English breakfast offered wide variety. I hosted two 10 person events while staying there. Attention to details & service were perfect. Owners are actively involved in management, friendly and made me feel welcomed. The pub & rooms are impeccably clean. Location is scenic, historic & within walking distance of everything Lancaster. Very attentive staff and excellent surroundings. Room was small but adequate for the time we spent in it.We ate in the evening and the food was exceptional, the portions were large and of excellent quality. Breakfast was delicious and the choice outstanding. We were made to feel very welcome without being fussed over too much. We would recommend the Wagon & Horses to family and friends. We hope to stay again next year when our daughter graduates from Lancaster University. Loved everything about it. Location 5 mins walking distance from the town centre. The room was clean and comfortable with lovely decor. The food was very good we had an evening meal and breakfast. Great just to sit in the pub below and have a drink and relax. The young lady that checked us in (Gemma i believe) was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Had a lovely weekend despite the biting wind and 0 temperature!!. Everyone at the Wagon and Horses were friendly and welcoming. The service was excellant and would definitely recomend having a meal there. Location within easy walking distance of the city and quieter than other places we have stayed in Lancaster where sirens can be heard regularly racing around town from the central Police station. Also parking is easier and although not on site it is available, free and close by.I can thoroughly recommend this lovely pub as a place to stay. The location is great for city access, nice views and the pub has a lovely atmosphere. The rooms were beautiful, the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If i ever need a place to stay in Lancaster again, it will definitely be here!. A very friendly welcome from Gemma. Very clean and comfortable room, liked the sparkling white fluffy towels. We really enjoyed our evening meal, with the best pork belly I have tasted and my husband liked sampling the good range of ales. To finish off our visit the breakfast was first class with a good range on offer. Aeable. Rooms are very friendly pub which is obviously very well run. The staff group are very helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. The menu is varied and interesting, a cut above standard pub fare. The breakfast was exceptional, good portions of local produce. Great accomodation and food - both dinner and breakfast excellent - with perfect location on the riverside within walking distance of the town centre. On Wednesday evening, exhausted from our long day, it was difficult to get to sleep before 10.30 as there was a regular pub quiz on and the microphone was quite loud. If you want a hot pudding beware! I suspect they are heated up in the microwave and therefore it was blisteringly hot. Tasty but too hot. No complaints. Everything was perfect. Definitely will use again. The only comment I would make is that the breakfast menu should say that there is a choice of 6 items from the list provided for the Full English Breakfast. As this did cause some confusion with the lady that served us. Otherwise there are no negative comments. nothing. There was nothing not to like!. Nothing!. No complaints at all. I was in a very small room and it was very hot which lead to a uncomfortable nights sleep. Make sure you take toiletries I only stayed for one night and didn't take any expecting there would be small sample bottles supplied. Nothing. Nothing. Bit loud from bar downstairs where a christening was taking place,next time I would ask for a top room overlooking the river. The room was on the small side but very comfortable. The breakfast coffee was a bit week, but our server, Rhiannon, made us fresh one's and they were delicious. Nothing. There was nothing to complain about. Room was a wee bit small but this was due to the age and layout of the building. Nicely presented though. The rain!. No dislikes. lady serving breakfast was a bit grumpy!. Nothing. Nothing. The mattress on the bed was a little tired. No issues accounted. Nothing. The room we were given was over the front entrance and the noise at closing time while not excessive, was not ideal as we wanted an early night. curtains, looked good but not fit for use maybe some one needs to relax the draw strings. Didn't personally enjoy the bar/breakfast area being cleaned whilst we were in there having breakfast but am aware that the level of cleanliness and smartness maintained by the hotel is due to staff being conscientious and preparing for the lunch time opening of the bar. Having to go home.
