What people say
The location was really good and easy to get around the city. My room was spotlessly clean and I have no complaint whatsoever. On a quiet street and my room had a garden view. Rooms are smaller but this is normal for European cities. Expect that everywhere. This is really a 3+star hotel(Villeroy and Boch dishwear), andan empty room refrigerator to fill as you wish. Breakfast was also good on the balcony. all reviews »

I will stay in the same hotel on my next trip aththe end of the year. The Location of the hotel was excellent and the quad room was great value for money. Convenient location, friendly and helpful staff. Near the center, quiet area, 24 hour reception desk, friendly staff, willing to help with shuttle reservations and informations about the city. I slept in a single room, which was not too big, but for my purposes and budget more than enough, with large bed inside. Very good.Staff is very friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel was great. Room was clean and roomy. Breakfast was really good, nice staff, close to the museums and parks, silent area. Having a fridge in the room was dead handy. The hotel and room were very nice. breakfast is very good (fresh tomatos and fruts every morning). Good location, clean rooms and excellent breakfast. Friendly staff and very helpfull. Friendly staff,. friendly staff. The friendly and helpful staff and the convenient location. I really enjoyed my staying at hotel Alexander. The location was great and within easy access to everything in Amsterdam. The street was very quite eventhough you were so close to the city centre. Wireless internet was free and it was a great help for me. The only things I didn't like was that the hotel room was vey narrow and there was some noise coming form the rooms next door or upstairs.Good location, close to the Metro. We needed a room that could accommodate 2 adults and 2 children - not many hotels have such rooms available. 24 hour reception. very clean in all areas that i seen.Breakfast on the terrace. Location. Its location is great and the rooms are very nice. All the staff was great and the breakfast was fine too. location, close to the center and makes walking to other parts of the city easier. the breakfast on the balcony overlooking the courtyard. polite and attentive staff and breakfast was good. good location and satisfactory room. very close to city centre. convenient location. quiet location. Location. Tours. proximity to downtown, quiet street, parking is no hassle for 20 euros. Closeness to nthe City Centre. Clean room. Excellent bathroom.supportive staff, good location (near city centre), quiet,. Convenient location, friendly staff, pleasant breakfast.location and the nice terrace for breakfast. Clean room, comfy bed, nice shower. Hotel is in a beautiful area. locationthe "at home" feel. The staff were good. Staff is polite and competent; wireless internet free of charge, works well; excellent breakfast buffet included on room price; excelent bathroom, very clean and well equipped;. It is a simple, but clean hotel. Located in the city center, walking distance from the main attractions in the city. - Close to the main Museums and to the tram station. - Room is clean, quiet.breahfasts were exellent and staff was cortious. centre location. The breakfast was fair enough and the location is a walking distance from the center. near to the city centre. Nothing, the room smelt of damp and cat urine. No negatives. I would definitely stay again and recommend it.What I didnt like it was the directions how to get there from the airport. Is another very easy way . Just go out side the airport and get the bus number 197 or 370 to leidseplein stop. After that look to the sky to your right side to try to find the Marriot hotel because the alexander hotel is on the same street. Maybe is time to replace the towels, which were clean, but worn a bit.The hotel was undergoing renovations, which should be completed within 3 months. very basic breakfast. The computer had not printer available. No walking space between the bed and desk. There was barely room to turn around. I was, however, pleased with the size of the bed. Next time maybe a double room?. nothing much really, it's a basic hotel and given the price and convenient location, can't complain too much. our room was very small, but the bed was very comfortable. Room 8 was very narrow and felt like a corridor. I could stretch my arms and touch both walls of the room. staff were not very friendly or eager to help. rooms could do with tea and coffee facilities. Free. room quite small. You need to pay to get TV signal and there is no rpund trip service for the shuttle bus from the airport which make you take a very expensive taxi service from the hotel. Rooms could be cleaner. No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Very thin walls. Able to hear conversation through bedroom walls. towels, very small room, uncomfortable beds, twin beds instead of double bed. My room on 3rd floor not suitable for someone over 6ft tall due to low ceilings. expensive. Being expected to pay when we checked in, as it was exta for a credit card and we did not have any cash this was a probelm. Eventually they let us pay the next day. The walls were thin so we could hear next door. No do not enter/do enter card for the door. This would also help the cleaner. Be very careful about the room you get. I'm sure most of them are fantastic, but ours was on the lobby level and faced the road. We got beautiful high ceilings, but every time the sliding door opened as people entered throughout the day and night you'd hear it thump against our wall, and there was no door between us and the breakfast area, so it was noisy in the morning as well.very tight rooms- but it is Amsterdam!. Yes. I was put in a single room for the price of a double room. I want arefund of the difference.Room too small, window facing south gets direct sunlight the whole day in May, thus room becomes too hot, with no air conditioning or even a simple fan; check out time a little too early (11:00); room was not ready at regular check-in time;. - People drinking beers in the hall almost every evening give a very bad atmosphere. - The taxi driver ordered by the hotle wasn't a real taxi driver and was rather strange too. not all the desk staff knew enough about the city to help around. basement room. We had 2 very small (claustrfobic) rooms in the top flor not served by the elevator. The front desk gentlemen was not very helpfull. To park the car was a difficult action. room in underground floor for 2 adults and 2 children is very little and dirty. breakfast could be better for the price. Room cleaning and breakfast. Service of the receptionist was very very poor.

Information about the area
Leidseplein
The square developed in the 17-th century as a wagon park for farmers and peasants to leave their carts here before entering the city center. The name is because of Leidsepoort, which once marked the end of the main road from Amsterdam to Leiden. Nowadays, Leidseplein is a busy tram intersection and center of night-time transport.
Leidseplein is one of Amsterdam's popular centers for nightlife, with
theaters, lots of cafes, restaurants, cinemas, the casino, the Lido theater with live entertainment and music centers Paradiso and Melkweg .
Rijksmuseum
The Rijksmuseum (National Museum), set in its historic building, is the largest museum in the Netherlands. The museum is the largest in the size of its collections, its building, the budget and the number of staff employed.
Each year, more than a million people visit the Rijksmuseum. The museum employs around 400 people, including 45 curators who are specialised in all areas.
Vondelpark
Vondelpark is the largest city park in Amsterdam, and certainly the most famous park in the Netherlands, which welcomes about 10 million visitors every year. The Vondelpark is located south of Leidseplein and quite near the Rijksmuseum , Stedelijk Museum and Van Gogh Museum.
The Vondelpark is loved by Amsterdammers as well as by tourists, and is full of people - enjoying a sunny day, dog-walking, jogging, roller-skating, listening to music, people-watching, or just lazing about in grass. Free concerts are given at the open-air theatre or in the summer at the park's bandstand.
