The hotel suited our requirements perfectly. The location was good, the staff were exceptionally helpful. The beds were so comfortable. Even loved the fact that there was a bathtub which meant we could soak our weary feet and legs after a good day out and about. Have stayed at Rydges 2009, 2011 and now 2013. I would still recommend. Clean, good service and reasonable rates. Also good spot with everything close and taxi's always out the front to take us to the races/ Will be back there the next two weekends.

The location was a plus point close to parliament stations and 10 mins walking distance from Melbourne Central Station. Hi, We thought the value was great aswell as the location. We enjoyed sitting in the bar each night as it was nice and quiet. I would have to say i loved walking into the foyer daily as it just had a great vib. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room was clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The hotel is in a great location and the 11:00 am check-out makes for a more relaxed morning after a night out in the city. This hotel is in an excellent location close to the Theatres, China Town, and the centre of town. It is also an easy walking distance to the museum, and Lygon street. The beds are very comfortable. We loved our time at Rydes but the only thing that let us down was the bathrroms were moudly and not very clean( bathrrom walls very dirty & shower curtains mooudly and walls) Part from that we were happy, but it was a bit of a let down. Not really a big deal but I think the design of the bathrooms could bebetter. It would make life easier for those of us who need to apply make-up, etc to have a bit more bench space and better lighting. The hotel is showing signs of wear and tear. Room service menu is pretty boring, if you want something other than a burger. Maybe more free good TV Foxtel type channels? Better sound proofing from adjoining room (with interconnecting door). Nothing untoward. lack of room around bathroom sink. Paying for parking. Lifts are terribly slow. Nothing to not like. nothing. Parking is a bit expensive and I wanted some extra foxtel channels. Decor was tired in areas (carpet in lobby area really needs replacing). Bathroom area was pokey and no places to put toiletries. Shower head needed tightening/replacing as it struggling to stay upright. Bathroom a bit small. The bathroom was very small, and not particularly user friendly in configuration. The in room air conditioning was extremely loud. In room information on TV channels, access movies, and time of availability for room service was poor. There wasn't anything that we did not like. I was disappointed by the "bath" size as this was the main reason for booking this hotel. However we got upgraded to the room that had the bigger spa bath which was great!. Building looks dated from the outside but refurbished on the inside. Being charged after we left for minibar items that we hadn't had. small but adequate room. Bathroom was a bit too small and not a very good design with the toilet behind the door Air com was not very strong so was quite warm in the room at times. We asked for a queen bed or if the singles could be combined and were told this would happen, but it didn't. When we arrived home at 9.30pm it was too late to ask again. Parking up street ??? Car park Could have been told when booked in there was car park for guests even if full sign out. If I had one criticism it would be that the bathrooms are quite small. mattress may need to be updated not sure how old and could be slightly firmer. Airconditioning or lack of it. The airconditioning units are badly placed as cold air hits first bed and doesn't spread round room and it was exceedingly hot the day we were at Rydges. That there was a mix up between my business booking and leisure booking. Business expenses were charged to my leisure booking and staff were unable to rectify this. Room probably a tad small but perfect for the budget. A bit outdated, and was appalled that I was charged a credit card fee when I paid even though I had to give my car over when checking in, not good at all. The bathroom was very small and no free Wi Fi. To pay $400 a night we were dissapointed with the view. If you looked outside of our window all you could see was a brick wall. Front foyer looks a little shabby - maybe a refresh (or at least clean the carpet). outside noise but understand that is out of there control. Rooms look a little worn, could do with an update soon.
