Room was comfortable and clean. Booked a kingsize twin premium room but put in twin mediocre room. Complained to management and they changed room next day to superior kingsize but not twin beds. Worked out ok though. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly and manager very helpful. Really appreciated the upgrade handy for shopping and cbd and river very well positioned. Would definitely use this hotel again. Swimming pool heated and great position on roof. New shower excellent loved.
all reviews » The locations was handy for the three locations we had to visit. the Reception staff were efficient, and friendly. The room we were eventually given was clean, comfortable and quiet. It appears to have been recently renovated. The Hotel is located close to many attractions and restaurants. It appears that some rooms are better than others and that only some are as described in the Hotel's description. The buffet breakfast was pleasant and adequate but not sumptuous as described. Stunning city view from our room, beautifully appointed with new, modern furnishings, gorgeous bathroom, room and bathroom very clean and in excellent condition. Main hotel reception, lift, bar and restaurants very modern and clean. Staff friendly and dealt with queries fairly promptly. Good location within the cbd and everything you would want within waking distance. Bed was big and comfortable. Pool was a bit cold but refreshing and set in a beautiful area. What little interaction we had with staff they were friendly and helpful. Shower pressure was awesome!. The buffet breakfast was nicely served. The staff looking after the buffet were helpful. I would like to mention Natalie who was very kind and helped with our request with a smile. The location and aura of the hotel was calm and peaceful. We enjoyed our stay very much. I came to Melbourne for the tennis so the location was ideal. Also the hotel's proximity to restaurants, shops and tourist sites was perfect. I shared the room with a friend so it was great to have a bit more space than most hotels. A lounge/dining area to move in. Accommodation and buffet breakfast were good value compared with other city hotels. Staff were friendly at reception and when delivering room service. Close to shops, theatres and sporting venues which were the reasons for our trip. The first room we were given was unbearably noisy. There was a very loud drilling noise that went on and on makikng conversation in the room impossible. The air conditioner didn't work. While the room was clean, it needed renovation. If we hadn't been given a another room, we would have been totally dissatisfied with this Hotel and would have moved out immediately. Lobby/hallways on floor to bedrooms tired, dated and a little unclean. House keeping staff left rubbish and dirty washing near lift for majority of morning on both days. We felt breakfast was over priced and therefore did not eat in the hotel. Only tiny complaint was one of the lifts were out of order during our stay so it took a bit longer waiting time. The bathrooms were a bit worn and dated but fine for one night. Didn't understand the $100 charge incase of damages. Never had to do that before, usually just a credit card on file is enough. Still waiting on the money to be refunded also after 3 days. Maids were extremely loud in the hallways, early in the morning. Almost as if they were trying to get us out. The shower over the bath could be an issue for some less mobile than me. Bathroom was outdated (stains in bath). building itself needs a bit of an update, halls were quite tired looking, but not a deal breaker. Nothing. Everything was great. Nothing. Initial room 701 unsatisfactory due to cigarette smoke smell in the room. Rooms were very dark and mentioned balcony on website was not really indicative of how it presented. the bathroom and the lifts need some renovation work to make them as fresh and homely as the rest of the hotel. I was very happy with everything for the price. *Bathroom door did not shut or lock. *Maintenance Cupboard in bathroom was left unlocked * 4th floor Hallway to our room needs a fresh coat of paint. * Linen Cupboard on our floor (4th) was open our entire stay leaving question as to what could have ended up on linen. My two room service trays were not collected for two days. The Melbourne Taxi service should improve. Unfortunately the restaurant for dinner was sadly lacking in gluten free choices for my wife. We will have to eat somewhere else should we stay here again. Nothing. There wasn't much (it's okay)!. My toilet was blocked, I told a staff member and even though I was told he was going to get it fixed whilst we were out, it wasn't looked at. Everyday housekeeping cleaned the toilet, why didn't they notice & do something about it? Our length of stay was 5 nights, but 3 of them was with a toilet which didn't work. This was disappointing. The pool area could do with some shelter for keeping towels dry when it is raining. Bathroom was a little outdated. Mirrors were good but everything else seemed a little old. Light took awhile to turn on and it appeared quite dark. No hallway light/entry light. The sound insulation of the building is poor and we had difficulty sleeping due to the noise outside in the street. Limited television channels with very limited Foxtel. The room wasn't wot we were expecting. It was quite small and pretty basic for an executive room. (We have stayed in other hotels that had way more & were larger rooms) Bathroom was disappointing, too small & too compact ie couldn't reach toilet roll properly, had to twist around on the toilet to get it & not enough room on vanity to put our own toiletries & both couldn't fit in the bathroom area at the same time as was too squashed. No porter to help carry my heavy luggage down the steps when the taxi arrives. Lift broken for 3 days though over Easter so understandable for delay in repair. window in bathroom not necessary. Mugs for tea and coffee would be better than small tea cups. (Minor things nothing significant). no porters to assist with luggage from room to reception to transport for airport. The bathroom wasn't anything fancy but how much time do you really spend in there anyway. Lack of attention to detail by receptionist staff when checking in. ie we were given a room which was totally different to what was requested in the booking. ie a double instead of a twin with a cot for a 1yr old. The bar fridge in the room kept us awake, it sounded like an idling motorbike ! Had to invest in ear plugs for the second night. Not a thing. Need ramp at front entrance. When I asked for clean crockery after a couple of days there, the maid took the crockery to our bathroom to wash in the basin - no detergent etc. She said this is how it is done in all hotels. I spoke to a manager who apologised profusely, sent clean crockery with a bottle of wine. I sincerely hope this is not common practice in any hotels and needs closer monitoring by health authorities etc. Cost of breakfast, $26 per person. Notice in lift showed $21. Just outside hotel good breakfast cost $15 per person. Toilet seat would not stay up, very inconvenient for male. where my room was near the lift well. could not really fault. Service in the restaurant for dinner was slow and the food was average. The fact that we had to try and get out luggage up the front stairs when we came in no help at all. And the same when we left. My girlfriend and I are both over 60 and no help for seniors. A doorman would have been good. Very happy with everything. hard bed and view was of a brick wall. nothing to complain about. Cleaning servicing could be better, and the food we ordered was not collected as quickly as we would of liked. There was also noise renovations happening at the time of stay :(. Chairs in the room were quite uncomfortable, certainly not for relaxation. Don't like climbing into a bath to have a shower. Difficult to get to a power point to boil the jug for a cup of tea. Requested to have our room made up on the saturday morning. We left our room from 9.30am came back at 2.30. room hadnt been done. Very dissappointed. But would still stay again.
