  We stayed in the Vatnsstigur 11 building, which is perfectly located just off the main street Laugevegur - close to everything, but not disturbed by nightlife at all. No reception staff, but self check-in and finding the room key was easy. Just 200 yards from the sea front and the Sun Voyager statue. The one bedroom apartment (403) was great.   We were a family group: Grandpa, Grandma, Daughter, grandsons ages 11, 12. We needed affordable lodging near shopping and public transportation. We also saw a family studio which was bigger and again very clean and pleasant. I asked to upgrade our room as I wanted a bit more space (the prices are very reasonable and I was happy to pay more).   The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful, and they make you feel right at home. The facilities were great too (fully-equipped kitchen, hot showers with tub, and free laundry facilities). The bathrooms aren't gorgeous, but they are charming and everything works quite well. The location was good as well. Generally, I think if you travel alone and don't want to cram into a 16-bed dorm, it's a good place to stay with abundant space and good host to talk with.
