  The concept of Hussabakki was perfect for us on our wildlife trip. It has its own reserve with hides and an interesting nature museum - especially for school children. The staff were very helpful. There was even a kitchen and common room where we could eat and a sloping pool table for entertainment.   The place is run by the friendliest icelander that we have met. Very open, helpful, responsive (but not always on-site). The cottage is very small (basically a very large camper without wheels) - one room with just enough room for 4 people to sit or 3 people to sleep - but no more. Basic equipment is provided. Big plus: Free access to the very nice public swimming pool just about 100m walk from the cottage for the duration of your sta - The staff really went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable, in every detail. The town setting is incredible and the people very hospitable.

  A charming hostel with owner that shows great hospitality, offered to check for places to stay and find out the weather just so I have a safe adventure. Feels like home till I extended 2 more nights as a base to explore other areas and also rest even though it is slightly further away from Akureyri. It is comfy and quiet here. Kitchen is spacious, well equipped and has recycle bins. - We arrived late, but were welcomed very warmly. The hostel is nicely located, comfortable and homey- we stayed in the spacious dorm room, the kitchen had all the necessary amenities, the washrooms and all the facilities were clean and well maintained. There were cute decorative touches throughout that made it more special than the typical hostel. The owners also run a cafe with great cappuccino and pastries.
