Our stay at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf was great. We had a clean, tidy room that was serviced daily. We were a block walk away from where our hop on hop off bus departed from. Location was great! Just 5min walk to Pier 39. A lot safer area to stay than where people from our tour were staying (Union Square area) as there were very few homeless people, crackheads etc. I felt a lot safer staying down here and walking around at night. Bear in mind you do have to still have to be mind.
all reviews » The location is perfect for those who want to explore San Fran on foot. Chinatown, Little Italy, Lombard St, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, and the Marina are all within a 10-15 minute walking distance. Take bus 49 from outside the hotel and you can take a quick ride ($2/day pass) to go visit the Painted Ladies or Japan Town. There is great food nearby and tours that go to the bridge and beyond. The hotel itself is very clean, with nice staff and great pricing for this area. We will def. We took advantage of a breakfast included stay for 4 days and loved it. The staff were so friendly, the breakfast buffet was very good and the rooms were clean and comfy. Nothing was any trouble. Would highly recommend this hotel and the location was perfect on the wharf for everything we wanted to do. Shuttle and private car services to the airport were also very good. The location was convenient to the Fort Mason Festival Pavilion, the site of our trade show, and within walking distance of Fisherman's Wharf, the entire Columbus restaurant area, Chinatown, the Market Street area, and the Golden Gate park. The room was spacious, clean, and attractive, with a great view of Alcatraz. The staff were generally helpful. There were plenty of sites, restaurants, bars and activities within easy walking distance. Also there are great public transportation choices from this hotel. Paid parking was simple and there were "come and go" privileges. Parking was on site. Also, the day we checked out at noon, we could have left the car in the lot until 6:30 P.M. Location was great, easy access to the wharf and tourist "hop on, hop off" buses. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were friendly. Located in tandem with Denny's was convenient for late night snack. Concierge recommendation for Hollywood Cafe was a great suggestion. Delicious and huge breakfasts!. I loved the fact that the hotel was right in the middle of the action by Fisherman's Wharf. There was a Denny's connected to the hotel which made grabbing a bite to eat easy. The rooms were standard, very clean, and served its purpose of a family trip. I would recommend this hotel. The hotel has a nice atmosphere, comfortable and clean rooms, friendly staff and it's an amazing location if you want to visit Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco. It's only 5 minutes to the Wharf, with all its shops and restaurants. Also very close to Ghirardelli Square. We came in for a 49er game and always stay on the Warf. First time at Holiday Inn and the location was perfect walking distance for Scoma's and Buena Vista!! The rooms were VERY clean and the staff was great. We will definitely stay here again!! And the 49ers won!!!. Everything. This place was great. Easy access to Fisherman's Wharf, North Beach, Cable Cars, Bike Rentals, Starbucks :) and Coit Tower. While there, be sure to rent a bike and travel across the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito and then take the ferry back to S.F. My husband, Nathan and I go to the city at least twice a year. We have stayed in some pretty bad places but have now found our home away from home! Everybody was very kind and it was so clean and comfortable! We will be back, no doubt! Thank you, Kristi Hicok. Check in and check out went smoothly and I love having a restaurant within the hotel...totally enjoyed our stay!. -Parking was a steal- and the fact that we were able to keep our car there after check out (until 6pm)- BONUS! -Location: Close enough to the action yet far enough away. -Staff: A++ -Very Budget friendly. -Fridge was perfect for storing some snacks. The F tram stops right outside and takes you downtown and on to Castro. Plenty of great places to eat nearby. The hotel was close to Fishermans Warf sf. There was not only a cafe but a quick coffee and pastry bar for easy in and out. Holiday Inn is very close to the Pier and a short trolley to the centre of twon. The staff were frinedly although not all that helpful at times. I didn't drive but it's $40 per day to park at this or any hotel in the Wharf Area. Just something you should keep in mind if driving. The only drawback for us was that the hotel is split into two blocks and we were in the further block which meant a short walk for hotel breakfast and the pool facilities which are in the main block. However the further block does have the advantage of a 'Denny's' 24 hour diner. The staff were not always as knowledgable as they could have been. The coffee bags provided with the coffee maker were extremely weak and tasteless. The fact that tax was not included in the quoted price meant that the final bill was considerably more than anticipated. Being in the second building meant having to walk outside to go to the pool; no address easily given so we could tell the shuttle service where to pick up. Cost of room seemed a bit steep, but not compared to others around the location. It was a bit pricey and the hotel parking garage is expensive. The only thing is the restaurant was pricey for breakfast. Can't think of anything we didn't like. Wish they had some sort of 'Happy Hour' for guests & perhaps a tv in the lobby for when you are waiting for your ride to the airport. -Bed was a bit uncomfortable, but we were so tired from being out all day we just passed out. -There were some stains on the walls in the bathroom (eek!). Location was perfect! Hotel was extremly comfortable as well as a great value! our group varied from age 14 to 69 and everyone enjoyed the comfort of the room as well as having the opportunity to enjoy the pool!!! We loved it all! I need to add the hotel staff was exceptionally efficient, courteous and we were always greeted with a smile!. Location of my room #1301 in other building. Long walk, away from main building. This bulding was old and the floor I was on room 1301 smelled of mold. This lobby was also very old/outdated compared to the main one. The gym was too small with only 5 machines, and two of the 5 machines didn't work. My colleagues room #330 had a very large round red stain on the carpet...looked like blood. Right in the middle of the room... Car parking costs - fixed price to park overnight when there is a pay and display car park opposite, although his is very typical of hotels in LA. The pull out couch could of been a bit more comfortable. Can't think of anything!. The breakfast choices were minimal and high priced. Nothing. Limited parking in the second building where we were. Parking was expensive. The tile and grout was cracked and dirty in the bathroom. Everything else was fantastic. Staff not overly helpful. The restaurant was a Dennys. The restaurant was a little pricey but in line with all hotel restaurants that cost more. I was there for 6 days. I would like to have milk or juice in my room without having to buy it everytime I wanted a cold non soda beverage. There was no small fridge in the room where I was staying so that was to put my left over gourmet dinner or a carton of milk from the corner store. The hotel is split into two different buildings so we had to have a bell hop take our bags to other building after checkin. After that, no problem. The pool was in the other building and we didn't intend to use it, but you should tell people so they can request the building with the pool if they prefer. we were not told ahead of time that we were in a different building a block away, so we had to lug our stuff 1 block (we could have had the taxi driver drop us off at the other building. Also we had to check in twice because of this as the keys issued at the other hotel for this one that were supposed to work, did not. We ordered room service, since my husband was ill. The food was very poor and very expensive. The first person at check-in was rude. She thought we should pay for a room when we weren't there. Fortunately that was changed in the final bill. I didn't like the conceirge as he told me that I couldn't get a cab to candle stick park to watch the 49ers game. He hailed a cab but the cabbie took off saying he couldn't take us. Then he told me that it would take 2 hrs to get there with game day traffic. It took me a half hour to get there! When I got back to the hotel he mockingly said how was the game and how long it took me to get there. I responded in kind and told him 30 min then walked away!. Can't think of anything we didn't like. The coffee in the bedroom and the view or lack of view from our room. The front desk clerk should be advised that when they say "Parking is $40 per day", the accent on forty should be on the first syllable. If it is on the second syllable, it sounds like $14. So I was shocked when I saw my bill. rooms need a face lift; old/worn carpet and walls. Nothing. It was great. All printers in the business lounge had next to no ink. Breakfast was too expensive. 50 usd for 2 people. The supposedly heated pool was too cold to swim in for very long. I saw multiple families make an attempt and give up after 20 minutes, and this was in the middle of July! Also, depending on which building your room is in you may need to walk outside and across a street to get to and from the pool. No fun cocktail bar or entertainment environment. Kind of boring. Parking shold be reduced to $25/night $40 way too high for paying guests.. Had to pay for car parking, a bit pricey for parking the rental car. Was not advertised as additional cost. Nothing to fuss about.
