Hôtel Voltaire République is a nice family-run hotel ideally located at 200 meters from the busy Place de la République. The area is full with restaurants and shops The famous le Marais area , la Batille, le Canal St Martin are within a few minutes walking distance. All the rooms , including the suite and the apartment are equipped with a bathroom, bath or shower, toilet, tv with remote and telephone. Some have hair-drier, Mini bar and a private balcony. Internet is available at reception.

The staff were very nice and helpfull. The location was great for a stay in Paris. There were stores and bakeries close by and the metro was less than a block away. Location and pleasant staff made for a comfortable stay. Staff were very friendly, and helpful about hotel-related questions (a tv remote that needed new batteries, how to use free wireless internet...); comfy bed!. all reviews »
This hotel is European (not American style) and very convienent to Metro stops and several Museums. Staff were very friendly and the view from the window was lovely. The heating was very good. The location was fantastic and there is a tiny but fantastic Ethiopian restaurant in a little laneway just around the corner which is well worth a visit. Friendly and helpful staff, great location but not too noisy to sleep, glazed windows for privacy, no smoke smell in room or hotel, hotel has water and beverages available for purchase. Its proximity to the metro station and other facilities (restaurants, taxi stops, shops). A clean hotel.The location of the hotel made transport very easy and the staff were extremely helpful the whole time. It was close to the center. My wife liked the workman working on the other room. He was pleasant and humorous. Very conveniently placed for our requirements.Quiet in room.closeness to city, yet cheaper than other areas. position ,attitude of the staff. Free internet. It would be good if there was a rail on the wall at the front of the bath to hang on to, as it is difficult to get out of and you could slip. especially for a short person or child.I got sick and had to go home early, they would not refund my last night's payment. Generally, the towels were old and scratchy, some are stained, hot water is limited and there are no shower curtains to keep the shower water from getting all over the bathroom floor. However, I am sure all of these are typical of Parisian hotels in this price range. Very narrow lift, not a very good noise-isolation between rooms. Towels were not changed during my 3-day stay.Breakfast was a a bit limited but adequate. Small elevator. Too hot and no hot drink making facilities in rooms. shower door missing - floor got wet all the time. the bed is too small. Room was really dirty. Even after i asked for it to be cleaned, when I returned that night, the bedding was still dirty.lack of maintenance (broken lift, phone out of order, broken shower support), unaproppriate quality of the wifi internet in the room. Towels.cold water.... The elevator was not working, the staff didn't offer help - nor to me,nor to some elderly guests that I saw dragging their suitcases up anddown the narrow stairs. Their internet service was also poor: its on anancient and very slow computer, and, again, the staff was not verycooperative: I didn't have much cash, and the staff did not agree towrite the bill on my room, so that I can pay later.Need some refreshment. Sealings with mould. Towels seems very old. Water comes on flor from sink, because there was a problem with pipes etc. The sheets were stained, some with blood. The bathroom was a box and the shower dirty and really unusable. Way overpriced for the location and amenities. it seemed very overpriced for what we got. No receipt was issued for payment. The room was not clean. Staff appeared to not have the necessary english when there was a problem (i.e. - another guest tryoing to convey that the bathroom was dirty, myself trying to convey I had not been uissued a room number when paying and checking in - and then taking rather along time to find my name. These felt deliberate lack of communication issues). This hotel is below any critic.Do not recommend this hotel in future.We have seen many people checking out and asking for their money back as soon as the saw the state of the rooms.The lift was not in working condition when we checked in.We were obliged to pay for the whole stay upopn arrival.Pushed to purchased breakfast even before we decided if we wanted to have breakfast at the hotel. staff not very welcoming and not interested in this profesion, rooms not really clean. poor equipment/comfort in the room, wireless network did not work, heating was NOK, overpriced for price/value ratio; it is better to stay in kyriad chain hotels or similar in Paris, and it costs the same, around 85 to 90 Eur / night;. The staff were not very helpful and the carpets and walls of our roomwere filthy. I'm not sure that laughing at your clients because theyhave a question (ex. Can you recommend a good restaurant nearby? Etc.etc.), is what they teach you at Hotelier school. They must have skippedclass that day. Hot water is also an issue - run for a good 10 minutesprior to taking your shower!!. The shower room was too small and dirty. The bed did not look clean.
