  It was clear that the hotel was being upgraded and we were happy that our rooms were those already completed. The furnishings were new, carpet and bedding was new, and the rooms were very clean. There were quite a few guests at the hotel but it was quiet throughout the evening. We also enjoyed the pool in the evening which had plenty of lounge cha... what people say » irs and some tables for those who didn't want to swim.   This is an excellent location and is very well run by both management and staff. It was my first time staying there and I noticed that they get a lot of return/repeat business. Not surprising, as I observed that they work together as a team and do a terrific job. In addition, the hotel seemed to be fully booked and the staff was able to take the l... what people say » arge amount of through-traffic in stride. If my travels take me back this way again, I will definitely stay at the Howard Johnson's Battle Creek. I am - We appreciate "pet friendly" hotels that also are neat and clean, Too many times the quality suffers because you love your housebroken pet. Howard Johnsons didn't make us feel that we should have a shabby room as punishment. The dog walk areas was also nice.
