Genuinely elegant and unmistakeable French influence on style. Bedrooms and public rooms thoughtfully designed and furnished so that more relaxing and welcoming than the vast majority of functional city hotels. Service at reception and in restaurant sincerely helpful and cordial. Restaurant choice and service excellent despite huge pressure of busy clients at peak times.The nicest hotel we know in Manhattan.
all reviews » Front desk check-in very courteous; responsiveness of concierge (transport from jfk arranged in advance; availability for help and information); room décor and bathroom design, especially lighting; excellent room service (breakfast); relatively quiet room despite being on 45th St; blocking curtains worked well against the light at night. Classy and undrstated Every aspect of the hotel was of the highest standard. the staff were particularly professional, efficent and friendly. we loved it!!!. Staff service levels are really excellent. Speaking as a frequent traveller, I can honestly say it is the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Given the hotel is in the middle of downtown, the noise levels really are minimal. There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel from the central location to the most luxurious bed we have ever slept in. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were extremely courteous. We're pleased to thank you for all the attention and care we received during our stay. We enjoyed the hotel and we compliment you for having someone as qualified as Ms.Luzielle at your front desk. My tv did not work well - mostly the local channels but then cnn - I reported it the first afternoon but nothing was done; I had to ask again the next morning, whereas I only had 2 days in ny! Also, the first morning, they forgot to bring the nyt I had requested with breakfast in room. We didn't appreciate that the type of room that we booked was denied.The hotel told us that we would be put in the De Luxe King Room later but this never happened. My room was not ready until 4:30 (3:00 check in time.). No hot water machine & coffee machine for making a cup of tea / coffee, with a several choice tea bag like Dilmah,Twinning,Taylor,TWG,Kusmi Tea.. No wellcome fruit/ a little cocholate at night... It was confusing that I booked a room with two single beds, but that wasn't available at check-in. I understand things change. The hotel was very nice about it and was very accomodating! They get 5 stars for stepping up!!! I ended up very, very satisfied and I really appreciate it! I'll be back there and I recommend Sofitel to all my friends. the room's door couldn t be totaly close and make noises when ever someone on the same floor shut his room's door. Nothing, really. Nothing. it's a bit expensive. 10$ for a 0,33cl water from the mini bar is too much. Our view was nice, 7th floor, but no city lights to speak of. High floor would have been fabulous. the shower head. Phone a bit expensive but that is the same for most hotels. No coffee maker in room. Restaurant prices high. The bar area is not very comfortable or inviting in comparison to the rest of the hotel or other hotel bars in the area. It's a little pricey. The breakfast is too expensive. It does not worth the price. There are many good options around where you can have a good breakfast for less than half of the price. Nothing. We found breakfast quite pricey but there are coffee shops all around. No heating system in bathroom, "restaurant" is cafetaria. Not too much space outside the room to meet with ohter people. overairconditioned lobby. Getting a little old - needs some modernization to stay luxury level. Well, almost everything. They really need to offer free, full-speed wifi. $17 a night to upgrade the free wifi past dial-up speeds is ridiculous!. Wish there was a coffee pot in the room and it would have been perfect!!. Value for the money. Their are better hotels that are in this price range that are greater value for your money. The hotel air conditioning was inadequate for the room. The booking confirmation from your website did not include the floor( 15-29) that I originally booked which resulted in an unnecessary and uncomfortable exchange at the front desk.
