We were spoiled. The staff made us feel like we were very special...they even sent our little ones milk, cookies, and candy with the sweetest note to let them know that they were special. Our experience was flawless. We came to New York as a Christmas present to our grandchildren. Out room over looked time square and every experience we had was magical. Thanks to the great staff at the Marriott Marquis, they could not have been anymore professional, helpful or kind, especially to our little.
all reviews » The Marriot Marquis have a very friendly staff. Everyone was always helpful and all smiles. The hotel was exceptionally clean. The Christmas spirit with all the CHristmas trees in lobby was truley magical. One is able to see all the efforts that were made to give a guest a magicial holiday spirit the moment you walk through the doors. The restaurants, gift shops and loungres are very convenient as well. Over our opinion of hotel is a excellent plus plus. the central location was excellent, you walk out the front door and you are right in the heart of times sq. and the staff from the bell boy up were very helpful from start to finish. the elevator system was like nothing we ever experienced before and for the volume of people we were never waiting any more than 30 seconds at a time. we would have no problem recommending this hotel to any of our friends as the only down side was the broadband charges. Safe - we got back to the hotel at about 3am one night and were greeted by an NYPD officer asking for our room key to make sure we were staying at the hotel. Gym was great, brand new equipment... never crowded, a great view of Times Square while you're working out... Location - literally in Times Square! Beds were super comfortable! Very clean, spacious rooms (a rarity in NY!) Once you figure out how the elevators work, you're golden. We had a Times Square View room and averaged £280 per night over five nights in June including taxes. Room very clean as expected for a Marriott and much more spacious than expected. Hotel is very big and therefore guests can be anonymous. Easy to use safe was a major plus for peace of mind. Could not fault anything we tried within the hotel and the location is the best in the city. Fred Frazier, in Guest Service was simply amazing. That is a good asset that the Hotel has in him and needs to be retained. He is extremely professional, courteous, knowledgeable and made us feel welcome and at home upon arrival. The ladies in the Business Centre are truly wonderful and extremely helpful. This was our second visit and we will be back again for sure. Loved that the room, especially the bathroom was very clean. More than enough bathroom essentials! The breakfasts were lovely and the chefs making the eggs enthisiastically prepared ours in clean pans to cater for our halaal diet (didn't want any contamination with pork and other non halaal meat). It is very centrally situated right on times square. Organisation from arriving in the car, courteous helpful, efficient staff. Even the lift system was well organised. Arrived earlier than scheduled and we were allowed access to our rooms because they were both ready. Buffet lunch in the Crossroads excellent value for money. Would recommend to others and would definitely stay again. Food was good. Room perfect for the family. View was pretty good. Fast extremely fast I crowded elevators. Staff awesome. Use of facilities for boarding passes. Hot water. Frigid AC IN room. Beautiful amenities. Location close to bus lines. Able to purchase tickets broadway. Snack gift shop open when needed!!. We arrived at 7am after a long drive expecting to check our bags and have to walk around for hours until we could check in. However we were informed that our room was ready and we could check in. Unheard of!! Especially in New York !! It was great to be able to freshen up before our big day of sight seeing!!. Best location to be in Times Square! So handy for all sightseeing, shopping or just immersing yourself in the city. Broadway at your door! Staff were so friendly and made our stay so wonderful. The room had a great view, very clean, and surprisingly quiet, it was comfortable temperature wise as well so we had a great sleep. Large rooms, location, breakfast buffet. We arrived very early I the day and they were gracious enough to let us check in early. It was my sons birthday and the gentleman who checked us in sent a few goodies to the room. Bearing in mind the location the rooms are very quiet. The lift system is very good as you never seem to have to wait long. Having a Starbucks attached to the hotel is fantastic as this was our meeting place on a morning!. Everything. We had our room close to the 45th ( final floor) and the view into times square was great. No noise also from the street. Lots of eating places around and shopping. Great walks through the buzzing streets. The location was convenient, however, this area is extremely congested which I should have expected. Staff was very courteous. Starbucks is located downstairs which is a plus. The beds were extremely comfortable. The staff was very accomodating!! We needed to get things from our car several times and the parking staff was so kind and helpful. The conceirge gave us very helpful information and directions as well. The Marriott Marquis is a perfect location for NYC visitors. You are right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance from about 75 percent of the sites first time NYC travelers want to visit. The only thing I found strange, the have no in house laundry (but have in house theaters?!) and for pressing your suite you have to wait 12 hours? Yet, they tell you that in advance. Everything. They definitely need free wifi all over the hotel & the man at check-in was a snooty NYer. Pretty expensive, but it is NY afterall. We were in 2236 on 22nd floor and this wasn't high enough as noise pollution in the night is significant. Ground level roadworks and constant ambulance activity kept us awake most nights. Would highly recommend floor 40+ for a decent sleep. Everything was perfect nothing not to like about it. It's a busy hotel no doubt but then again you are in Times Square! So that's expected. Nothing all good. Thank you. Website advertises onsite parking! This is the only reason we parked at hotel. Given the number of parking lots in the vicinity, we could have parked at any one of these, and left when we wanted to. Instead we were held hostage in a very chilly portico fr an hour, with two exhausted children,while our car was retrieved from a remote location !!! Bad form Marriott, this spoiled an otherwise awesome trip. Nothing!. Outside the cost of the actual room it was expensive. It would have been lovely if the tea/coffee making supplies had been kept topped up on a daily basis to relax at bedtime with a cuppa. Not much to complain about otherwise. Expensive restaurants WiFi charge very high. Wifi in room was expensive and difficult to connect to the lobby for free. Had to pay $17 per day for wifi, I think this should be included in the cost of room. The only complaint I think either of us made was that the bed in our room was a little aged. We both seemed to develope some low back discomfort. nothing to complain about. Nothing. It was a GREAT hotel. Our room wasn't ready when we got there but it wasn't a problem as my family were in the room next door so we put our cases in theirs. The receptionist didn't explain that we would need our passport again to check in even though they had checked it already. So we had to go back upstairs and disturb my family to get the passport from their safe once the room was available. Don't always assume that people have stayed before!. Lack of personal touch but hey we learnt there are about 2000 rooms so that's expected. No refrigerator. This area is probably the most crowded in all of nyc so this should be kept in mind. Internet is very expensive at $16.95 per 24 hours. The rooms are superficially clean but the bathroom needed work. There was mold/dirt on the undermount of the sink and shower tile grout looked dirty. Beds were not overly comfortable for a suite room. Suite room is a little dated furniture wise and the pull out couches are back killers and need to be updated. They show signs of sagging before you get in them. I loved everything about the hotel! I wished the View restaurant had more cost-friendly dining options for families with older kids. It was pricey. I would have loved it even more if the price was slightly lower. We booked a suite and 5 persons were staying in it; we had one toilet to share. Another toilet would have been fantastic. The Hotel is very large it was a bit impersonal & they advertise that you can gain access to WiFi in the Lobby on the 8th floor but it is hit & miss if it is working. Also expensive to eat & drink at the Hotel. The cost of drinks at the bar.Two beers and two mocktails + tip was nearly $50. Just the crazy taxes. All good. We were disappointed when we had to cancel our dinner reservations at the View Restaurant because we were not aware that my son could not wear khaki shorts and nice sneakers to dinner, We were told the alternative restaurant was the same but by no means is it. No free WiFi in the rooms, were told at the time of booking that all rooms has a view on the square and had to pay extra big amount in order to have a room with view. letsbookhotel.com didn't make clear or give an option for inclusive rate for breakfast when child over 12. There should be an option to be able to pay the 'difference' for this in between age. no mini fridge to save our last bite or Juniors cheesecake for breakfast. No inhouse Spa facility. In-room dining is poor. No mini bar in the room, even water is not included and you need to call room service to order. The noise from constant sirens from the ems and nypd. Windows should have been sound proof. There was like a loud wind noise that made it hard for us to sleep at times. We stayed as long as we did, only because we had plans for the area. We would not stay here again. Staying a couple blocks away and using the transit system would be beneficial. The elevators got crowded at times and too noise sometime because of the police/ ambulance cars given the proximity to time square and major streets. The one thing that was not so good was the wifi Internet. no thing at all we really enjoyed our stay. Nothing negative to say. Quite expensive in the bar and restaurant but in view of the location it was worth the cost for a short stay. No mini bar fridge. We booked à twin room, but for some reason, the hotel did not know about it. No twin bedroom was available and we got a kingsize bed plus sofa. This was the best possible solution. The bathroom did not have an exhaust fan which I thought was a little strange.
