The hotel location is ideal for exploring the lakes and is close to ambleside and grassmere as well as windermere and Bowness. The room was excellent and the owners are not mean with the heating like some. Lovely and warm for winter breaks. The meals were super and generous and staff helpfull. Great facilities for dogs. We have been previously and rebooked at the end of our latest stay. Love the guide dogs.

Me & my partner are in our 30's and wanted a break away with our baby. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We had full use of the swimming pool which was nice & warm. The room was gorgeous, but mostly when our daughter was struck down with sickness, Ben who was the active duty manager that morning went above and beyond to help us get her a hospital appointment, and was very helpful. He is a valued member if staff there. The location meant walking about a mile down to bowness town which was very convenient and I will definitely go back to stay there. S.Debenham

Very clean hotel & well equipped rooms, the annex room we stayed in was very spacious, food in the restaurant was good.

Restaurant pricing of meals, would be nice to see separate prices for dishes,if you wanted to order a single dish. Add on extras I felt were a bit high.

the hotel was in an excellent location on the main road in windermere making it very accessible for travelling throughout Lakeland. Our room in the annex was large with a lovely bathroom,we also had a small seating area outside which made a nice area to relax after a day out. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice to suit all tastes

Noisy neighbours who came back to their room late and began playing loud music until 3 in the morning without any consideration for those trying to sleep

the location of the hotel was very good with a twenty minute work into Bowness the room view was great which overlooked the garden so you could catch a glimpse of the wild rabbits

the evening meal was a slight dissapointment eatable but not great

My wife and I think the whole experience of staying at the hotel was wonderful, all the staff were very friendly, and very helpful with everything asked, most enjoyable breakfast and from the reception they arranged for a little longer stay in our room before check out, this was appreciated as we had a wedding to go to at 3.00 p.m. this extra time in our room allowed us to get changed for the wedding. Highly recommended and hope some day we will be back. Regards to all the staff. Mr & Mrs Brian Furness

Nice hotel in a very good location. Excellent value for money. Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Friendly staff

Room 22 was directly above the kitchen and the smoking area. Some of the menus need updating as many things were not available. Towel rail did not work.

The location and staff were excellent. Lovely grounds and a peaceful location. I took my Mum who has restricted mobility and it was a great choice for her.

The bread and coffee at breakfast could do with being better quality. How about a cafetiere at the table for a fresh brewed taste?

Everything was great apart from one thing

We stayed in room 34 the only thing I think you could improve on is I would be helpful to have a mirror near an electric socket so you can see when drying your hair

The room and bed were clean, warm with a fantastic view of the lake. The location was great very near lake. Enjoyed the breakfast.

We had a spacious comfy room with a huge bed and a decent sized bathroom, it was very clean. Breakfast was excellent, me and the missus were in stitches with some of stuff that Ben? (think that was his name ) was saying to the guests, a very funny and attentive guy, nothing was too much trouble for him. All the staff were great, thankyou :)

We stayed in a 'Superior' room in an old but well modernised building that had lots of character ;it was comfortable and presented to a high standard. It was detached from the main hotel making it quiet and it had its own outside seating area accessed throught french windows directly from the room. Parking was good.

The hotel was well situated for exploring the Lake District. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient and the food excellent. It is rare to find a hotel offering this high a standard for the price we paid.

The pool. Excellent, varied breakfast. Cooked to order and served on HOT plates (a rarity elsewhere) Good sized, clean and comfortable room.

Dull, uncomfortable and unwelcoming bar. Too similar to doctors' waiting room. No reading materials. Foyer also unwelcoming and bare. Long drive into town.

Nice, friendly,old fashioned hotel with very good swimming pool. Excellent breakfast. Lovely view from most rooms. Well kept gardens & excellent location with no road noise. Steak, pie & burger on dinner menu good.

Fish on dinner menu was poor quality & very small portion.

Lovely hotel, warm welcome as soon as we stepped through the door. The hotel is in a quiet location, out of the town, set up high, you can see the lake through the trees. Staff very friendly and polite. Good spacious room, yes the bathroom was a wetroom, however this is a hotel which caters for disabled/visually impaired guests (and their dogs) - not a problem for us. We ate in both nights in the restaurant, good food, 3 course dinner without drinks is £16 per head. Breakfast is also very good with plenty of choice. We would certainly go back and would definitely recommend. Parking no problem, plenty of room and overflow carpark.

The bathroom could do with a lick of paint. The duvets were quite heavy and we were hot !! Suggest a lighter duvet with the choice of a blanket ?

luxury - bed was amazingly luxurious and comfortable, décor in room was fab...loved bathroom mirror!! lovely building, great staff service on reception - very helpful and opened up swimming pool for us!

Loved everything about our stay here. Really friendly and helpful staff who are all a credit to the hotel. Room had great view across to the lake. Large comfy bed, loads of storage space, hot and powerful shower, huge bath towels and more. Would definitely recommend evening meal at hotel. Food cooked to order so served fresh and hot. We had soup followed by scampi and rump steak. Very filling, very tasty and very reasonably priced. Bottle of cabernet sauvignon also went down very well! Breakfast again served to order and was faultless. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hotel very easy to find off M6 Jct 36. Will definitely be returning but for more than one night next time....be fools not to.

We stayed in the annex part of the hotel which was very nice and clean with our own parking spot. Staff were nice and friendly and breakfast was lovely good selection to choose from.

Only thing was the bed we asked for a double for which two singles were pushed together which wasn't was the most comfortable thing, would of preferred an actual double bed. The pool was good expect we ended up being in the middle of swimming lessons which we weren't informed off at all prior to going down to the pool.

Our party had 2 rooms the first one was excellent very roomy and comfortable

the other room (19) was comfortable but was situated above the kitchens so had the smell of food and quite noisy

The sign is very badly placed at the entrance we drove past it twice. A bigger sign actually on the road would help.
