    Personal service; beautifully renovated building in a quiet location. Stress-free.     Alison was very welcoming and helpful. Just having had a foot operation she was keen to provide any help needed. The room was quiet and the bed large and comfortable. The en-suite had everything needed, with a good shower & hot water. The whole place was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was substantial and not greasy. The cooked breakfast was excellant. We were warmly welcomed, well fed and very well look after during our stay. We loved it! And excellant value for money as well.

We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

    Claire and steve where really lovely and very helpful... nothing was to much trouble...the room was lovely and very clean.. bed very very comfy... steves breakfast in the morning was gorgeous and set us up for a days mountain biking. ...     We stayed in one of the cottages and it was beautiful. So clean and well maintained, just lovely. We arrived extremely late (00.10) but were greeted with a warm, friendly smile by Steve who was so attentive. It is only a 5 - 10 minute drive to Scafells so great location for walking which is why we were staying there. O - A real gem. Top quality accommodation at reasonable prices. Large well appointed rooms in a stunning location. A pleasure to find an establishment of this standard that serves good honest pub grub at reasonable prices - just what you need when climbing the hills. Good to see a hotel supporting local real ale brewers not not just the usual 'fizz' that most hotels offer. Food and drink prices all very reasonable, nice not to have a shock when paying the food and bar bill. Staff all very friendly
