    The hotel was very comfortable and the staff service was great, i have absolutely no complaints. Wpuld definetly go back. - the hotel was very friendly and the food was lovely. the hotel had a nice cosy ambience to it.

    The view of the harbour from my room. The hotel was central - very near rail and ferry links. The accommodation was compact and comfortable. Staff were very helpful and welcoming, but unobtrusive - a homely hotel with a pleasant pub / bar. - the hospitallity was excellent from staff and there local clientell.....nothing was any bother to them ,,,to... what people say » ensure your comfort....and the food was freshly cooked everytime which i really enjoyed......will be returning soon

    Colin, Francis and the gang were terrific and very helpful re local info, restaurants, etc. We wished we had stayed longer. Nicely, restored large house across from Oban bay, just far enough out of town to be walkable and quiet at same time. Beautiful views of Kerrera and sunset.     This guest house should have a 5 star rating instead of the 4 it has. Absolutely beautiful from the car park to reception to the gorgeous bedroom(14) and the breakfast area.     Very comfortable nicely furnished family suite with great beds. Suited our family of 4 with kids 6 & 8 as we had own sitting room space in evening. Suite has amazing views of the sea/port, and located away from noise of main town, but only a short walk along the promenade to get to shops, port for ferries and seafood restaurants. Would stay here agai - Stellar, friendly, helpful hosts (thanks Mark & Jan!), fab room with stain glass window and breath-taking view of the sea and promenade, Mark's Scottish Breakfast utterly delicious, lovely attention to detail including snifter of sherry, great location next door to beautiful ruin (Dunollie Castle) we will come back. Chief highlight of our three week Scottish tour was Oban in general and the Barriemore in particular.

    My sister and I arrived earlier than the designated check in time and were greeted by a lovely staff member (Chris). He assured us that he would clean our room first in order for us to check in early. He also helped to carry our bags to our room and refused a tip. He was extremely accommodating and friendly.     We had a warm welcome after a very stressful drive in snowy conditions. Our car ran off the road! We phoned ahead to explain we would be late. We eventually arrived after midnight and were welcomed. We felt we had arrived at a warm and safe haven. We had a long sleep in the next morning to recover from our ordeal. Oban is a very pretty town, especially in the - Very good price and excellent location close to the town centre. The house was lovely and warm- essential in the winter months. The room had everything you need and coffee as well. They were very friendly and gave us all the information we wanted in a helpful manner.

    We booked 3 rooms at the last minute and did not notice that the rooms were not en-suite. We were concerned as we had an 80 year old solo lady in our party but everything was fine. Nice clean guest house and very nice owners. Good Scottish breakfast to send us on our way. - Stayed in two separate rooms with adult son .Accommodation budget but... what people say » clean and comfortable enough.     The hotel was in a lovely location, a perfect break before travelling further into Scotland. The welcome was genuinely friendly and all staff were very helpful.     My wife and I stayed at Ayres Guest House for one night as part of a tour of the west of Scotland. We were met by the owner who was very courteous and should us to our room which was on the first floor and faced the bay, the views were beautiful. The room itself was well appointed and all the usual facilities were available. The en suit was a litt... what people say » le on the small side but served very well (maybe I’m just too big). The breakfast was ample and a good selection of continental and traditional cooked - Excellent location with great sea views from the front of the building . Nearest pub is next door & also very convenient for the town, trains & ferry's. The room was fairly small but clean and cosy and the beds were very comfortable. Staff were friendly & helpful. Will recommend and if ever I'm back in Oban would happily stay here again.

    We had a twin room with a massive bathroom, and heaters that made it cosy. The lounge is just great - a big kitchen to cook in or make pots of tea. In the morning we'd sit by the sliding doors looking out over stunning sea/mountains/sky. My teenager was glad for the free wifi, tho a bit slow it helped us finalize our hike route. the staff are love... what people say » ly. The sheep next door wondered about with the dogs and behaved like pets. I can imagine this place is great for groups or families in the summer, to - The kitchen facilities so we were able to prepare sandwiches for the day out and also meant we could keep eating costs down by preparing an evening meal. Good to meet interesting people from different countries in the communal lounge area. Comfortable lounge area, well stocked fridge for continental breakfast and good facilities for the use of everyone.
