    I have stayed there many times, starting in the mid 1970'S. It became a luxury hotel after that, and this is the first time I stayed in the more modern era. In general, I liked everything, but especially the staff. I feel they gave outstanding service. I arrived without a wallet and no money to pay the cab. The hotel staff graciously paid the cab ... what people say » and put it on my bill, even though I had not yet registered. (My wallet had been temporarily lost.) - The hotel was charming and inviting. The location was perfect for us. I was traveling with my daughter visiting another child that is taking a gap year and is in the Oxford Tutorial College. she was able to get to us and we got around the town wonderfully. The staff were all helpful and informative. The environment was cozy and warm which was greatly appreciated because the weather was chilly and wet. Would definitely recommend to others.

    They were very helpful. After I was there for three hours I discovered the toilet did not work. They moved me to another room immediately. Two days later the ceiling caved in during the night because of the water from the air conditioner.     I booked the hotel mainly because of its proximity to the venue for a college reunion dinner. A spacious free carpark in the centre of Oxford was an added bonus.     Our visit as part of a self-organised university tour. The Bocardo is central and walking distance to most of the colleges, museums, shops, malls and covered market. They went out of their way to give us an early check in, helped by holding our bags after our stay while we did a tour, recommended a good food pub, offered adapters, had quality toiletries, etc. Beds were comfortable, and temperature could be controlled by us.This was a delightful hotel which I would stay in again.

    The hotel is very close to the rail and bus stations and also to downtown. Although we arrived early in the morning we were allowed to leave the laggage in the bar and go to visit the town.     We booked into our standard room,which was well above standard. All was good until we found that the bathroom sink was blocked. The staff arranged for maintenance to come to the room. They were unable to fix the problem straight away, therefore the manager arrived and moved us immediately to a superior room with complimentary drinks. I booked the Malmaison mainly for the fact that it is a converted jail and that it was in a Lewis episode. It was a bit of a splurge & worth every penny! The bar was fantastic & both bartenders that we encountered were quite lovely! We were treated really well by both gentlemen. By far one of the best experiences I've had in a hotel in the uk. I would love to come back & spend more time.
