What a gem of an hotel! It was clean, comfortable and easy to find. The staff were welcoming, freindly and extremely helpful. The food was excellent, but thei coffee could have been better. Otherwise I have no problems recommending this hotel to anyone. staff were very helpful,our room was comfortable and clean.Reception was a bit tired looking as well as the bar area but the room was excelent.all reviews »

The staff were incredibly friendly, as were the locals who made use of the restaurant and bar. The room was charming and comfortable, particularly the bed.It made a welcoming and helpful base for a busy two days. You could only get a wifi connection in the lounge/bar area, would have been nice to have gone on-line in the comfort of my room. But it was no real hardship. no, superb. The supply of hot water was somewhat limited (or perhaps I couldn't figure out how to work it properly). Breakfast doesn't start early enough. The loo cistern was very noisy. There was no remote for the television. Nothing I can think of. I enjoyed my stay - and would probably staythere again when I next visit Exeter.They had run out of yoghurt at breakfast. Hardly a major issue. Bedroom was close to kitchen which was noisy early next morning. Unfortunately the central heating was out of action at that time. Bit cold til heating came on and in middle of refurb. Could not raise any member of staff before 7.30am. The shaver point did not work. No shampoo or shower gel.The carpet in my hotel room was slightly dirty - the main room and bathroom could have done with a vacuum. The hotel is a good distance from the town centre so the cost in taxis makes staying in the hotel quite expensive and for that price I could have stayed in a better hotel in the town centre. There is no pre-warning about the noise that comes from the bar downstairs on a Friday night. The hotel was very noisy - you could hear every thing in the next room.

Travelling information
From Junction 30 of m5, follow signs for Middlemoor. Go under the railway bridge. At the roundabout, take the third exit, signposted Pinhoe. Follow road until traffic lights are reached (Sainsbury's on the right hand side) and bear left into Pinhoe Road (signposted Whipton & University). Go past parade of shops on right, at the brow of the hill, look for the Red House Hotel tourist sign. The hotel is on the right hand side, tucked back from main road (in Whipton Village Road).
