The hotel and its grounds were well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Thoughtful things like chocolates in your room makes people remember your Hotel and want to return - I and my friends certainly will. Everything was excellent, the staff - very friendly and helpful, the hotel accommodation was of a high standard and the food was the best we have ever had, especially the dinner - the service was excellent.

This leads one to think the bedrooms may be tatty. The fire alarm went off twice in the night and all had to vacate their rooms. The fireman said they have been called out on other occasions.The restaurent for breakfast in the morning was not warm enough although the weather had turned very cold that morning. Just as a very minor improvement, it would be useful if hooks werepositioned at the front of the reception counter so that you can hang asuit carrier whilst checking in / out. I also found the coffee served inthe lounge area not to be of the best quality.There was no hotel infomation in the room which would have been very useful, ie meal times, how the tv worked etc. I also got my wake up call on the wrong day!!. The organisation in the dining room could be improved. Items were missing from reset tables and it was apparent that the table had been used by an earlier guest. ie. milk jugs almost empty, preserves missing. When only a few items from the full cooked breakfast were requested there was no effort to increase the amount of the items selected to fill the plate.An unfortunate item was found in the bed (a used white t-shirt ) givingus a feeling of the room not being cleaned properly and the sheets notbeing changed ???. Breakfast could be served later on a weekend. Being woken by the fire alarm. I stayed two nights and slept very badly on each. This was because the The fire alarm went off both nights. They were false alarms but required evacuation and fire brigade. Also the central heating kept the room very hot even though the radiator was off and window open. Finally the cleaner insisted on knocking the door at 8.30am unless the Do Not Disturb sign was up. I went home early to sleep.Double room appeared set up for single occupancy (e.g. single basin, single easy chair). walking passed the wedding party twice to get to our room resturant a little cool at night food fine. Room (and area around) too hot. Staff were not very friendly, although I chose the hotel mainly because of the guest reviews commending the staff. There was no guide to the television controls in the room. The bar was comfortably equipped, but monopolised by a very large and loud party of guests on the Friday evening, we had to push our way through many excitable partygoers to get to our room. The breakfast was very good but marred by poor service.front of house were quite grumpy and not very welcoming.
