What people say
We arrived earlier than planned but our room was ready so we booked in
(no extra charge for this as Travelodge do). Room was quite large and
comfortable. £50 (including the all you can eat breakfast) was great
value, especially compared to other lodges, the staff were very friendly
and attentive. The Toby Carvery is also great value, we thoroughly
enjoyed our stay.
Staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful. The carvery on the
evening was well priced and delicious, the breakfast was also very good!
The room was lovely, a full sized kettle. Plenty of tea, coffee and
milk. Beds were comfy. Tv had a good selection of channels and a
brilliant picture. The cost of the stay was very good, all in all we
would stay there again!. all reviews »
Well placed - easy to find - handy for all road/motorway connections - handy for Exeter centre + Uni. Spacious free parking. Surprisingly quiet.
Comfortable room/bed - quite adequate size & facilities. Toby Carvery next door very good - would definately use again - excellent value for money.
I enjoyed the range of food in the restaurant, which was very well presented and delicious. The chef on the Carvery was very generous with the portions of meat. The bedroom was clean and the beds comfortabe. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfast good, would have liked cereals on show. Did'nt find out till last day that cereals were available, but you had to ask for them. Carvery meals were excellent. Staff in the restaurant and bar were hard working and very pleasant.
The Hotel was well run and we had a friendly and professional check-in, the rooms were well set out and provided value for money. The food at the hotel includeing breakfast was good quality.
Good food on offer at good value for money.Staff were friendly and helpful. Seemed a very popular carvery.Slept well and didn't hear a sound except for the rain on the roof.
The rooms were fitted with matching furniture ,not the melamine units that you usually see in budget hotel it looked very up market. The staff were very pleasant.
Plenty of free parking.
Close to city centre/university.
Central location.
Good value.
Bar/restaurant on site.
Late check in/out.
Breakfast served till 10.30.
Although it looks very dated on the outside, the rooms were quite nice. The carvey is real value for money and the breakfast was lovely too.
Inclusion of an all you can set breakfast in the price; pleasant and friendly staff; well equipped clean rooms; excellent price for Exeter!.

Excellent food and great staff.
Clean room
Excellent breakfast.
The casual atmosphere.
Food and service good.
food realy good value.
Couldn't see Exeter Arms displayed anywhere. Took a chance when we
saw the Toby sign.
It's not the Ritz but quite acceptable (especially for the money) - no real complaints.
It was a very satisfactory experience with no reason to complain.
Receptionist were'nt as friendly rather sullen. Did not seem to return our greetings.
Nothing negative.
A musty smell downstairs in hallways. Got a little hot in the room at night .
Was expecting to see different shampoo/conditioner/soap in the room instead of just a liquid soap dispenser in the room.
Not the most modern and is a bit date.
Really funny smell in the corridors leading to the rooms which was very offputting, so much so you wondered what the rooms would be like. Such a shame because the rooms are really nice.
Lock on window was broken.
Some breakfast items a bit dried out.
Car park entrance dreadfull and lighting in car park even worse.
Carvery meat was rather dry and a bit overcooked.
Some of the vegetables looked as though they had been forgot about and
were burnt.
Decor perhaps a little tired
Otherwise nothing.
walking down to our room the corridors were cold, damp & not very nice, the air freshners on the floor was a bit of a put off.
Restricted channels on Freeview and no radio and only one chair to sit on for room with three bed spaces.
The hotel corridors could do with updating and there was a bit of a damp smell.
It was a long walk to drag my case from my upstairs room along 4 lots of corridors to get to the car park. I would have liked an opening door nearer the car park.
Rooms and corridors dated, old smell in the hall. Didn't feel very safe alone.
Rather run-down decor in the rooms annexe E.G. peeling paint on single
glazed window panes, cracked glass in my window with a small hole, but
bathroom was fine, and overall it is good value.
nothing to note.
building a bit tired.
tired decor throughout hotel.
Bathroom could do with a bit of work but at this price I couldn't possibly complain.
Room looked a little tired and was very hot.
Nothing.
The mismatched carpets in the corridors, the musty smell, the dated dark decoration in the corridors.
Mattress a bit lumpy. Power station outside starting at 5am. Thin walls - Loud snoring from room next door.
The bed was very uncomfortable.
Not easy for anyone with poor mobility.
under beds had not being cleaned . hoverd.
Rooms and access rather "tired"
In need of refurbishment.
No curtain in the bathroom and felt exposed with the light on.
Floor boards by fire door noisy whenever walked on which was on the other side of the wall to the bed.
Needed slight updating.
Carpets / fitting a bit 'tired'.
the name of the hotel cannot be seen as indicated by the post code. We thought we went to the wrong one because its restaurant has got a different name.
Yorkshire puddings over cooked.
the hallways smelt of damp need to be adressed.
