The best location could imagine (two steps - and you on the square between the Aya Sophia and the Blue Mosque); the hostel places on a quiet and non traffic back street; very nice breakfast (home-made fig jam was perfect!), small but comfortable and rather clean room where everything is working; the towels been changed every day; there is a lot of cafes and shops near; very friendly and responsive staff (personal regards to Esin!); guests from different countries both young and aged; seascape.
all reviews » The Tulip hotel is extremely clean. The staff is very helpful, friendly, accomodating, and speaks great English. The location is wonderful - very convenient to all the major sites in Sultanhamet (Blue Mosque, Topkapi, Hagia Sophia) as well as the great public transit network. Breakfast was quite nice. The showers were wonderful, and had lots of hot water. They were able to help arrange other travel within Turkey. Ahmet, the young man that runs the place, is a very kind person, and goes out of h. Istanbul is expensive for accommodation, but Tulip was good value for money EXCELLENT location (we walked EVERYWHERE we wanted to go), with friendly helpful staff. Of course the rooms are quite small but on our return visit (we stayed two x two nights at start and end of our Turkey travel) they gave us the family room (for myself and grown daughter) and it was very spacious. Lovely and quiet, great breakfast, no complaints at all and would definitely stay again if in the area :-). Loved the breakfast. You sit on the top floor of the building while in Europe and you have a beautiful view of Asia. The bed was comfortable and very clean. We got new towels every day. The location was buzzing with nightlife on "the strip" but we were never disturbed by the noise. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The quality for the price is outstanding. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. The room decor was cute and just like the pictures. Breakfast was great and on the top floor over looking the water. Not a huge downer, but we wished that the shower had a basin--it was one of those showers that drained onto the floor of the bathroom. We managed fine though. small room but it's not a problem if you come here only for the night and the whole day you spend in the city. If you cant do stairs it would be a problem. Can be tricky to find. We discovered an easy way to avoid restaurant street (behind square) on the way to hotel, by skirting the Topkapi palace wall on the way down towards river and heading right towards otopark and Hotel efes- up some steps as is a bit of a dead end. Absence of safe in room. Some minor problems with the bathroom facilities. Room was small but had everything we needed :). We didn't really get it, but at the late evening hotel staff asked us not to use bathroom from 23:00 till 24:00 that wasn't suit our schedule at all, so we just ignore it. a bit noisy. room is a bit small. Rooms are quite small even by European standards. Too small rooms. The rooms are too small. The bathrooms are old, small and uncomfortable without window. For that rooms the price is too high.
