The Tan Hotel is excellent for anyone spending a few days in istanbul. It is within a five minute walk to the Blue Mosque and the other sights in the old city, there are any num,ber of good restaurants and cafes within a two minute walk yet it is in a very quiet place. it is very modern and very comfotable. Fantastic view over the city at breakfast. Quiet but central location.- I wanted to stay there so much I managed to leave my keys and mobile phone behind. The hotel staff send me those items to London in no time. Impeccable and friendly service.

We had a lot of choice for the breakfast which was nice. hotel was in a perfect location. Staff was extremely helpful and nice. Breakfast was amazing with a good choiceof hot and cold food, enjoyed listening to Cafe del Mar music, loved theParis Hilton dog. Once we obtained transportation, we had to walk up the street without knowing where we were gong. Fortunately, an area resident pointed oout the hotel. Take the tram to the Sultanahmet stop if you don't have too much baggage. Breakfast assortment could be much better taking to consideration that it is small hotel.Staff need more proper formal training- this is my note as a manager.Noise was above tolerable levels at some points, it was not sure if it comes from the hotel or from neighbouring buildings. Staff ignored "do not disturb sign." Entered room without knocking. A bit disturbing...beds were not very comfortable, and no top sheet. Hotel management should work harder on fixing the details of their product (incomplete breakfast, minor shower problems, broken lights).I was asked not to put any drinks or food in the refrigerator (mini bar). It seemed quite strange. The iron fell leaving an iron impression on the carpet in the hotel room#405. We informed the reception desk and was requested we pay $250 toreplace the entire carpet. The burned area could have been easilypatched as a patch was done in Room #406. Also there was a huge waterstain in #406. We realized the hotel (or reception desk) was scammingcustomers. Elevator out of service for several days. There was a big problem with the bathroom , the toilet has water leaking the flashing mechanism kept running the whole time producing noise . The photos on the website gave the impression of a much bigger hotel. The terrace for example was very small in comparison to the pictures. It's overpriced for the facilities, decor and comfort. The room was well appointed, but bland, and the breakfast was not good. Then again, our visit was off-season (February), but it's definately not what I would expect from a four star hotel.The breakfast was poor. The room was not well done every day. No hot water for 2 mornings out of 4 and not even an apology ... Room very noisy. hotel is not at all like the pictures you see on the website. Hotel is next to a mosque so the singing over the loudspeakers will wake you up all night -bring ear plugs!! They tried to trick us and added extra charges to our bill. hot water kept running out and they did not apologise or do something to make up for this. The bed was too firm and uncomfortable. The breakfast buffet was below average. AC barely worked. Room wasn't cleaned very well.There was a big problem with the bathroom , the toilet has water leakingthe flashing mechanism kept running the whole time producing noise ,wecouldn't sleep at night in-spite of asking the staff to fix it ,the keptsaying that they will send somebody to do so , nothing has happened tillwe left the hotel. It was a nightmare . its not value for money.
