I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Megara. The location and view from my room was superb. Both Mehmet and Bayram, the morning and night shift managers of the hotel was extremely helpful and friendly and made the extra effort to make my 8 day stay in Istanbul, not only pleasant but a very memorable one.Thanks again everyone! This will be my hotel of choice if I should return to Istanbul! =). Excellent location.. very friendly staff..very good room. gorgeous view towards the Marmara Sea and Blue Mosque. I had read the reviews about the hotel and heard wonderful things about Mehmet. I was very happy to finally meet him and talk to him on my last day in Istanbul. I will be recommending the Megara Boutique Hotel to anyone who is traveling to Istanbul. Excellent hospitality, friendly, caring people. I felt there like at home.The hotel staff was very helpful. Hotel in very good location. beautiful sea view. We liked the aptitude and professional skills of the staff. The location is excellent and near the most famous sites of Istanbul Sultanahmet. The area is fantastic and worth to see. Mehmet is a professional and helped us for several requests we had. He is also a very nice person and we had very good time with him! Excellent location, a very cozy breakfast-cafe at the roof-terrace, very nice staff. wooden floors. Actually there is nothing exceptional - Seredinca-napolovinku. Staff very nice, a little slow. Nice view from the restaurant. the rooms are too small. No view from our room, but as it seems in the whole neighbourhood this is a problem.Noisy (electric train, people). It was noisy outside because of next door building renovation - it's not a hotel's fault however we would have prefered to sleep a bit longer :). the bedding (doona) was too warm for the weather (October) and there was no choice. my request of non smoking rooms could not be fulfilled. ventilator vas not working and it was not repaired until our stay. Luckily we didn't need it. a bathtub in the shower will be better, more alternatives will be better in the breakfast and there must be some drinking alternatives except beer and wine.maybe the breakfast could be more various. no russians channels on TV, so if they add some....Bedroom not as expected very small, bed not queen size but standard, no view - no light coming into room.

The Megara Boutique Sultanahmet Hotel is located just off Sultanahmet Square and only a short walk from most of Istanbul major tourist attractions. Topkapi Palace, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque and the other major sights of interest are situated in 10 minutes from the hotel. The hotel provides stunning views of Bosphorous and the Topkapı Palace. Hotel is also located 5 minutes away from the nearest Metro Station.

Travelling information

At the northern end of Akbiyik Caddesi ("Avenue of the White Moustache") are the Topkapi Palace walls, a small mosque and a ruined Ottoman hamam (Turkish bath). Toward the south are ruins of the Byzantine Magnaura Palace. Obviously, this is a street with some history, and not just an old man's moustache!

It has several lodging-places in a range of prices, a few of the inevitable carpet and leather apparel shops, several bakkal (grocer's) shops, some cafes, bars and restaurants. The most interesting shopping is at its traditional Wednesday morning street market, however.

In many ways, Akbiyik Caddesi is the heart of this part of the Sultanahmet hotel district.
