Darussaade is a small hotel but is built as a proper hotel rather than a boutique hotel or a bed&breakfast - including the decor, rooms, hotel layout, reception, restaurant, lift, etc. They have recently opened the "back wing" with new rooms which are very nicely appointed - elegant/classic and not over-the-top. The staff at Darussaade were generally good, except for Omer and Gokhan, who were excellent. If we needed anything or had any issues then we felt Omer (the manager) was the only one.
all reviews » A softer and higher bed than the other Istanbul hotels that seemed to be the standard. Staff were very attentive in helping a solo traveller. A great location for tourists, near bazaar around Great Palace Mosaic Museum (450-550 AD Byzantine Empire, so different to Mosaics at Ottoman Topkapi Palace), all old city sights are within walking distance, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia etc, with lots of street or rooftop eating choices far enough away from main tourist strip to be relaxed. A great location, Right next to touristic places such as grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia and Topkapi Palace. actually all old city sights are within walking distance. People at the reception are extremely polite, helpful and provide all guidance, specially Mr mesutt who helped us kindly. Breakfast was Ok but could be better. in one word I would say " highly recommended ". we stayed there for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. It's in a great location, only 5 min to walk to the historical places! There is a beautiful terrace you can sit and relax. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. I think it's the best spot for the value. Definitely lovely place to stay. Without any doubt I'd recommend you. You won't regret it ;). Just about everything! The location was perfect for the purpose of our visit which is in the heart of Sultanahmet and a 10 min walk from the best historical places in Istanbul. The primary issue we had with Darussaade was in the room layout - the rooms tend to be a bit noisy; one of the (new) rooms we had was way too small; Also it would be nice to have an Iron and Iron table available. Hard to pick something here. It was great that they had a consistent style in the room but I would prefer a more modern theme in the furnishings of the room. Whilst breakfast was included you paid extra for fresh oj or eggs (other than boiled). Just being niggly really, but don't think you should have to pay extra for orange juice and omelette for breakfast. First deluxe room was a bit small and dark but staff moved us without quibble. Shame about the building work going on round the hotel but can't be helped and wasn't noisy - just unsightly. Just a minor issue but the view from the bedroom! Otherwise nothing!. This is not a complaint about the hotel but more a comment about its location. If you are a light sleeper you need to be aware that the blue mosque is very close and when they have their prayer times you may get woken up early in the morning depending on when sunrise is. My son is a heavy sleeper and said it was fine for him when he went. If not invest in some earplugs. Although we heard they plan a new enclosed roof-top terrace where they plan to serve breakfast next year, it is now being served in the no-window basement. Really close to the Blue Mosque which means you get woken by the sunrise call to prayer and the sound insulation is nowhere near sufficient to stop it. Rooms on teh downhill side may be better. nothing. single rooms were a ibt small, but for the price--delightful. 1) The single room was very, very small and claustrophobic as the window opened into an alley so couldnt open it. 2) I paid the full asking rate for breakfast yet the omelets were charged extra! That is outrageous - I have never experienced that anywhere. 3) The breakfast is served in the basement which is so dark and gloomy yet they have a terrace where they could have arranged for breakfast. Every other hotel in the area serves their meals. Nothing. nothing. Breakfast could have had more options. Some rooms are too small. You pay extra for orange juice at the breakfast table!. Not all rooms have tea making facilities and I would have liked the option of room service for a snack. Calling the Darussaade a cafe is a bit of a fib as, as far I saw, they offer no food apart from breakfast. Parking lot, made scratch in our BMW, nobody told us !. having seen other comments re noise we specifically asked for a quiet room, we were given a ground floor room which was very noisy as people were going home late at night....not good. the other problem was with the toilet cistern which was faulty, the staff were brilliant and did a temporary fix and the next day brought in a plumber, who was useless, consequently we had to put up with it for our whole stay. Nothing, liked everything!. n/a. may be not as "spectacular" as ranked - wall papers are detached from the walls and tiles from the floor, towels with holes (yes, clean but...)... Nothing. Have more variety for breakfast. Nothing - all was good. no tea making facilities. i only drink black hot tea and all i need is a jug to boil some water as i usually have my own tea bags. so i was upset about that when i first arrived but the staff later made me a cup of tea and then i realised other places where close by to get turkish tea. The breakfast was poor, the guest had to pay extra 3 to 4 euros for an extra omelet or orange juice, which are actually available by default in any hotel serving breakfast. There was no complimentary water in the room nor a ketel to make your own coffee or tea in the morning. That was really cheap...
