Location, comfort and breakfast - all faultless. Room 227 was indeed a superior room with a stunning sea view, plus tea/coffee facility. Female staff were incredibly helpful. Young male reception staff varied. I hope all staff received some of the large tip we left at the end of our stay as we so seldom had the right money at the right time. Tip - use the back door when walking into Sultanahmet. Very happy to stay at Hotel Kalyon again.and thank you to all helpful and attentive staff!.
all reviews » Istanbul is eclectic, lively and definitely worth several days exploration! The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we requested anything. After leaving the hotel, when a problem arose, the reception staff were amazing and could not have done more to assist. The location was perfect to visit the main attractions in the city, which were within walking distance. It was also situated on the coast overlooking the Sea. The location of the hotel near SultanAhmet area which is historical area, infront of the sea, and shoping places like Arsta bazar and Grand bazar. More, the staff of the hotel was very very very friendly. Really we miss them. Flower smile in the loby lets me think about reserve in the same hotel for my next visit. Location is excellent if you visit Istanbul for sightseeing. Getting to and from the hotel by car is fairly easy. Parking is available for free in front of the hotel. Service is excellent.Many rooms offer a direct view to the Bosphorus. Hotel is clean and welk maintained. It's a nice hotel, no doubt about that, the price explains itself. We booked it for the location and the car parking. We had a room on the street behind, on the upper floor, like asked, quite clean room. Staff is nice and helpful, location is really good. We like the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, cleanliness of our room and public area in the hotel. Breakfast spread is not worth what you pay for it (better to buy outside), the sea facing room has very good view but a little noisy (better to take the Sultan Ahmet Mosque view). Not depending on the hotel: 'wake up call' at 5.30 in the morning for the calling to the prayer, but in the end I got used to hear it!. We had impression that room was not cleaned well enough. AC has to be more efficient in summer time, although we were in March it hardly cooled the room. Room is a little small. Nothing. No bar to relax Advised a fish-restaurant at a reasonable price (told us locals also eated there), but was quite expensive in the end, in a tourist trap with noisy music Beakfast is very good, but costs 14 euro. Nothing. The insulation in the rooms wasn't good enough. With doors slamming and the voice from the next room was inside our room.You should maintain some kind of insulation in the rooms. Long time taken for any room service requested although staff courtesy and behaviour was excellent.,. Our superior room was rather small. We did not get bathrobes. Our room had two additional doors ( they were locked) to neighbor rooms and we heard our neighbours. Service at time inattentive. Too expensive. The restaurant was fine if you want to pay for elegant and fine dining but the coffee shop style fast, cheap and cheerful is missing. pity it didn'T have an outside area to relax in.not pool etc but garden to sit in. 2 grumpy staff spoilt the wonderful experience (shame as the rest were fantastic). The back door exit should be accessed via room entry cards. Buzzing & waiting at the door for staff to let you in is inefficient and irritating. bad isolation between the rooms especially between the bathrooms. They need to put their address on all their handouts. We needed to tell a cab how to get back and did not have the address with us. It is not on the key or any other handouts. i request for mobile charger adapter so many time but they did,t provide until the last tow days. Room cleaning was not good and a bit expencive. Not any bathrobes. The sound insolation betwen rooms are not good enough. lack of spa facilities which would make this hotel ideal; the hotel does have space for such facilities.
