Breakfast is rather good (the best one we had in Istanbul - and it was our 6th or 7th hotel). One of the girls who serve the breakfast is very friendly and helpful. Rather big room (not typical for hotels in the Old City). Tea kettle in the room. Good Wi-Fi. If you decide to book this hotel, you'll make very good choice. But if you walk from Sultanahmet, do not follow the directions given by Booking. There is a better way: do not turn right in the end of Hyppodromus Square, but go left, take t.
all reviews » Most of all I liked in Fides Old city hotel was silence. Hotel is very silent and comfortable.Also there is a small park in front of Fides Hotel I liked it a lot .It is very closed to Ayasofiya and train. And you can go to seaside by walking around 10 min. Near the hotel there is a lot marts and cafes which works almost till the midnight. Fides Hotel is close to all the important sites in Sultanahmet. You can walk to all the sites easily. It is also close to the tram. It has a very nice breakfast and the staff is very helpful and friendly. They all speak some English, and a few speak very well. If you reserve their airport service, they will arrange for transportation to and from both airports. We arranged this via email in English. On our last night, we had an early flight home. They arranged to have us eat breakfast at 5:00 A. The Fides hotel offers excellent value for money. It is not a 5 star, super luxurious hotel, it is a very comfy 3 star budget hotel and for that it does everything right. The staff is friendly, helpful and the level of english is good enough. Our room was cozy, and had everything we needed. The breakfast is simple, but good, with a decent amount of choice. The location is superb, in the middle of the main historic centre of Istanbul and in walking distance of the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, Topk. the hotel is a family business and the family take much pride in their services and are extremely helpful and personable and are there 24 hours if you need anything at all. They were very accommodating of our young children, even if we got to breakfast late and the rooms were lovingly decorated and very clean. The staff were excellent. The staff is welcoming, especially Baris at the reception desk is so helpful and eager to provide information about sightseeing and practicalities. No room service menu. Nothing to me. There is no elevator but there is always somebody from the personnel to assist you with the luggage. The room was very noisy in the night. No side light, brick wall for a view on ground floor, paper thin walls, blocked plug hole in shower. all was OK, nothing to say anymore:). Hotel need a bit reconstruction. Vacuum cleaning of the room could be better. The ceiling in the room is too thin, so sometimes you can hear steps of your upper neighbours. Wall is too thin as can hear the noise people talking outside the room & noise walking up & down the staircase. No replenish of toileteries for our 4 nights stay. no parking, no hair drayer, no minibar. Incompetence of 2 staff who dont speak English, despite my translated requests on g trans. City modern, friendly but hopelessly polluted!. First we had the room next to the reception. It's so close you can hear everything. Then we got a room on the 3rd floor but their you can hear also everything with the wooden floors.
