The Old Town is quickly and easily reachable on foot. Hourly trains connect Lucerne with the Zurich Airport. Upon arrival, guests receive the Lucerne City Mobility ticket, which offers free use of all buses and trains (excluding boats) in 2nd class in the whole city. Staff were friendly and the location was fantastic. Walking distance from the train station, right across from tourist information center, and walking distance to all of the sights of Lucerne. The breakfast at Monopol was great and was included with the room, which was a nice change from the other hotels billing me for everything I even thought about eating or drinking. I got a very good rate on my stay and the hotel room was clean and the hotel itself was very pleasant and had a lot of char.

friendly and efficiently staff. Best location next to the main station. A few minutes to the old city. Breakfast is very good. Wide range of English television channel. Very quite room in spite of close to main road and station. Good supermarket nearby. Right opposite to Business School Of Luzern. Plenty of good restaurant nearby. Rooftop bar at the adjacent Monopol hotel is a must for cocktail (great view!). We plan to stay here again. A huge thank you to Le(?) who was extremely helpful when we realised we had left our passports in the hotel safe after we had arrived in Luzern. He made a stressful situation much less so. Due to time limits my husband travelled the 6 hour journey back the following day to pick them up- big lesson to learn-check you have your passports every time you leave your hotel!. best location, just cross the road to Main train station, lots of food shop and chic bar next door, few minute walk to all tourist attractions., room is very clean with big window and able to open and bed is vvvvvery soft and super comfortable, bathroom is clean and modern with clothes rack. I booked Hotel Alpina and got free upgrade to Hotel Monopol！(so I'm actually reviewing Monopol) Fantastic location, right around the corner of railway station, and minutes away from the lake and places of interest. The bed was comfortable, the shower hot with plenty of hot water and water pressure, and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Room was spacious and I liked the brightness in particular due to right choice of color combination.It was not gloomy like some other Hotel rooms.Bathhroom had proper space.Liked the Balcony overlooking the road.Proximity to the station was a great advantage. Hotel Alpina was closed - referred to Hotel Monopol where we received an upgrade to a large corner room - very grand and a great view - top floor. Diana is a great asset to Hotel Alpina. just beside the station, very easy to find. you have to go to the sister hotel to have breakfast, but nearby and very nice. An additional side table with a side chair could have allowed me & wife to have our drink and also sit at the balcony. The walls were all white, there were no decoration or homey touches to it at all. I had exactly one bath towel, one face towel, and one floor towel. However, as I was only sleeping and showering there it was fine and, as I mentioned, was a great value considering the cost at many of the other hotels I looked at. Bathroom/toilet is cramped. no kettle in room. No complaints at all. Reception is not manned 24x7 hrs.I had to go to the Hotel Monopol at 11pm to get my room keys revived which did not work one day.Lift space is very less .Two persons have to squeeze in with Baggages. Hot in room - no A/C. Could have done with couple of drawers. N/A. may be tough to locate especially if you arrive at nighttime. hotel sign is small and not visible at night. Stale smoking smell which was obviously present at many times in foyer and lift area and which at times wafted into the rooms - most unfortunate - I believe that some guests smoked in the foyer when using the internet availability. No air-conditioning. Free wifi in the foyer not in rooms. So everyone is standing around the foyer or sitting on the floor. We weren't told about the free internet access at the Monopol. A second chair would have been appreciated so we could sit outside on the balcony. Not a big issue. There was not buffet in hotel. Tiny lift. The breakfast did not have fresh vege & fruits, instead have the canned fruits which is not reflecting freshness. nothing. The access arrangements for the breakfast room were mystifying. No wireless in the rooms in the reception area. To few socket in the room No Wifi in the room The total stupid arrangement that you should check in and have breakfast at another hotel. A least - that should be informed when you book the hotel. Small lift. breakfast had same menu for 12 days..was good but would have liked variety..stairs need carpet updated. The noise from the street non stop all during the night. If the window was open (very warm) we had cigarette smoke + noise of people drinking). A pity. Also for a hotel which is not cheap, especially for foreign tourists. No air conditioning. No wifi. Twin beds instead of king size bed. no free wifi, no air conditioner. Outdated rooms. Lack of air conditioning. Very noisy at night from nearby diners. Wifi only in cramped foyer. The cleanliness of room makeup was not neat. Breakfast plates and glasses were not really clean. Corridor has smoke smell even though the rooms are for non-smoking. The room, while quiet, was exceedingly small. The bed was hard. The wifi was hit and miss and not available in the rooms only in the overcrowded lobby. The breakfast - in a different hotel - was pretty basic. The room was too. Would prefer wifi throughout facility. Furniture was rickety--drawer rails broken, no a/c, bathroom very small, but shower was a decent size, Wifi only in the lobby. To be fair, I knew there was no a/c and no wifi. Extremely noisy in nights. It's almost a zoo in street the whole night. You can't open the windows.
