I arrived late after travelling down from Louth, but Una had contacted me ahead of time and told me there was no problem arriving late that she would give me the code for the door is need be. In the end I didn't need it as I arrived at 10.30 and stayed put for the night. I had booked a single room, so I was shown to room 7 at the top of the house. Clearly a small attic room, with sloping roof, but it was warm, inviting and contained a double bed and tv (with only some channels) tucked into th. all reviews
From the moment we arrived we felt comfortable and welcome. I had called ahead to ask if our room could be ready earlier than normal check in time to enable us to freshen up and change for a wedding after travelling by car from Dublin and this was readily and reliably arranged. The room was spacious, warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The breakfast was outstanding. Free wi-fi was also a bonus. Plenty of hot water in the showers. The hosts were warm, friendly, welcoming and accommodati.
We really enjoyed our stay at Acton Lodge. The owners were very helpful and at our request to have a room at ground floor level, they immediately offered us the annexe at the back which was superb. Breakfast was very good, with that delicious fruit compote', the freshly baked scones etc. Another thing that we appreciated was that just outside the guesthouse there is a bus stop with frequent buses to take you to the centre of the city, even though it is only a few minutes away. Location is excellent no more than ten minutes walk to the city centre, front gate is facing UCC on the busy Western Road, gateway to West Cork, while the back gate delivers you to the tranquil and beautiful setting of the Mardyke with its many walks, parks and playing fields on the banks of the Lee. Indeed it is hard to believe it's so close to a bustling metropolis. Owners were very friendly and helpful. And if the "bang for your buck" is important this is real value for money.
We were a family group of 5, my husband & I, our daughter and
fiance, and my 80+ year-old mother, requiring 3 rooms. We were
pleasantly surprised to have our rooms in the "cottage". The
rooms were spacious, bright, quiet, clean and comfortable. There was
secure parking which made it easy to transfer our many bags into our
rooms. Breakfast was fabulous with scones warm from the oven. We
thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it highly to anyone visiting
the Cork area.
Cork is very well organised. The lodging in Acting Lodge was a little less than perfect in every single way - very helpful staff,cheerful and with great hospitality. Very centralised and about 5 mins away from the city shops. Transport of buses excellent - 10 paces away from the main door. Congratulations and very well done. Keep it up. Acton Lodge is one if the best B&B's I've ever stayed in...better than many hotels I've stayed in. Immaculately clean bedroom and bathroom. I arrived late on a very cold night and the room was cosy and warm. Breakfast was excellent. Perfect location too. Thank you Una...so many B&B's could kearn from you!!.
Nice B&B, not noisy, warm bedroom, big king size bed, big bath
room with big bath. Tv with 5 channels, but it was ok for us. It takes
only about 10 min to walk to the city center, you just go straight
down the road and you are there. There is a nice park and river beside
the B&B.
We loved the comfort of the room, it was so quiet and relaxing. There were great amenities available: fridge, stove, sink, iron, etc. The room was very clean and the linens were fresh. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful and I will not forget the homemade scones!.
The staff are really friendly and helpful. The shower was the best I've seen in my 4 months of travel. The breakfast is huge. The rooms are big. Nothings too much to ask. Bus at door. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Lovely staying at Acton Lodge. Friendly owners, very helpful. Stayed there for 6 nights. Very clean, hot water, good breakfast, very nice and quite area, near to Fitzgerald park. I can recommend to anyone.

Breakfast was lovely, but just madly loved the house at the back as our accommodation. Will definitely go back again. It is my new favourite spot for trips to cork city.

The owners are extremely kind, and the cleaning is excellent. Breakfast is good and large! If I come back to Cork, I will book again at the Acton Lodge.

It is on the main road so you have to prepare well in advance to indicate and pull in; The drive/parking is a bit small and can be tricky to park; Breakfast, although adequate, could have been a little larger (2 small sausages, bacon and egg), but all the tea and toast you can eat.

No hot water kettle on the room. There is one in the living room /
kitchen area downstairs, you can make hot water in the kitchen and there
is free tea or coffee available. But the mugs are very small and you
have to make your tea in a glass cup. Would be great if the owner could
buy normal size tea cups or tea jars for every room.

Parking could be challenging but the hosts worked to make it as convenient as possible. Challenging to find locations because their are no house numbers in Cork and the streets change frequently. We ended up finding everything but I have no idea how.
It was very big. I would prefer a smaller B&B but I'll take the Family Room.
