Pillows were both fluffy, but flattened nicely. The beds were very comfortable. There was a big concert in town with lots of younger adults. They had filled most of the hotel. The staff graciously placed me on the top floor away from most of the noise. It was WELL appreciated!. Parking was very convenient, it was very close to St-Lawrence Market and the concert we were in town for. The room was clean, but very basic. We did not get to try the complimentary breakfast as we had an emergency to attend to and had to leave early in the morning.
all reviews » The staff were friendly and accommodating in answering my questions. The room was comfortable and quiet (I was on 14th floor). Very nice choice for breakfast of hot and cold options. Good location for being close to the entertainment and shopping areas of downtown. Location was terrific, service was always friendly and helpful, price of parking was not outrageous, room was quiet with a terrific view of the city. We would stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Toronto and looking for a place to stay. The hotel was within walking distance of many of the sights. Just across the park from the St. Lawrence Market! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Beds were really comfortable. Not plush, but a comfortable, relaxing weekend. Plan to go back!. My husband and I came to Toronto for the Gay Pride celebration. The Holiday Inn Express was in walking distance to all the festivities and, of course, to restaurants, shops etc. Friendly staff willing to answer tourist questions. Clean comfy room. Excellent beds and pillows. Hairdryer didn't work but a call to the front desk and it was replaced within minutes. Breakfast was good with a great selection. Very friendly staff and good location. Easy underground parking with in/out privileges. Size of room, good bathroom, good soaps and shampoos,nice towels, breakfast was well organized and very clean, choice for coffee and beverage was quite extensive. I didn't give the location an excellent because it's across the road from a Salvation Army mission where many homeless men are hanging around outside. As a woman alone, it made me a little uncomfortable to wander around the area late in the evening. We have stayed at other HIE's and somehow the coffee choices and even the eggs were not as good at this HIE as in others. I'm not sure why this was the case, but breakfast here was at best adequate and truly the only "downside" to our stay here, if being "adequate" is a downside. No refrigerator in the hotel room. It was nice to have a free breakfast - but I recall that the sausage seemed undercooked and cinnamon rolls underbaked. Not sure if the eggs were "real". Parts of the hotel are a bit tired (hall carpets in places) but overall it was not a meaningful distraction for us. Fire alarm went off at 7:30 because I took a shower, no restaurant at nite (even for light snack), only one fruit at breakfast buffet (banana), no gluten free cereal or bread, boiled egg would be a nice choice along with the scrambled eggs, my bolt lock did not work and I was travelling alone so this was not the best. I placed the chair in front of door. Breakfast time finished at 9:30am which we felt was too early. Perhaps 10am would be better. The over crowded elevator. I didnt enjoy the layout of the buffet area. It was extremely crowded. I can't really come up with anything!. Pricey parking, noisy area due to construction. The hair dryer. Took ages to dry your hair. Nothing. The bathtub needs some work - and the paint is peeling on the ceiling ... it felt a little dirty but it was clean. Bed was a little too soft. Would like it if there was a fridge in the rooms. Breakfast was bad - things were either too sweet or to fat, fried and artificial (coffee, pancakes, muffins and so on). Not a thing!. Breakfast was crowded, with far more people than tables. almost only sweet stuff at breakfast, I had to eat the same kind of eggs, bread and cheese spread for five days. The breakfast room was very crowded. Charge of $20 for parking seemed a bit high (for the 12 hours we needed it for) Breakfast room was small and mainly full of people (@9:30am). No facility make tea in the room. Hot water from coffee maker has coffee smell. No kettle availalble from front desk. Location (a little run down area) Carpet in the room needs replacement. The AC unit controls were so hard to read it took about three false starts until I managed to get cool - not hot and not cold - air to flow at the appropriate rate. Air conditioner seem rather noisy even on the lowest setting. The breakfasts where a little bit boring after a few days,plus eating with plastic forks,knives and plates was odd?. No fresh milk in the rooms - it was powdered. Also no kettle - there was a very good coffee machine but it was fiddly to make tea. Breakfast itself was great with lots of choice but it was most disappointing was that they used Styrofoam plates and plastic knives and forks - such a hotel should be far more environmentally conscious and I thought it was lazy at best and irresponsible at worst. Everything was fine but if I had to pick something, the view was nothing special. Nothing particularly. Hallways need a little sprucing up- carpets. Loud, partying guests in the hallways at 2am. Poor breakfast. My accessible room wasn't that accessible. The bars near the toilet were too far behind the toilet. The bed was very high, too high for me to get in. The space between the bed and the tv stand was extremely narrow. My chair barely fit through. breakfast was really poor.
