The Hostel Pfeilgasse is a residence for university students operating as a hostel in summer. It is a 15-minute walk from the city centre, with tram and underground stops close by.
There are basic and functionally furnished rooms with shared bathrooms on the corridor, as well as a spacious and quiet garden for relaxing. The hostel is located in the same building as the Hotel Avis.
Please note that the hostel is only open from 01 July to 30 September.

Very clean room, serviced daily, with friendly staff and ample breakfast; in central location, with 24 hr reception, great value for money! Disappointment may only come from expecting a hotel or a guesthouse: think of it as a much upgraded hostel and you should be very satisfied. When we arrived receptionist told us, that we will stay in their hotel accross the street for the same money...that means WC and shower in the room and breakfast for 22 Euro!!!. all reviews »
It is a student residence, not a Hostel in it real sense. Hence you have students accomodation that is vacant during the summer rented out to guests. Nice rooms, very close to the city center (Volksoper, Justizministerium, 7. Bezirk). The service is excellent and the the staff is very nice and friendly. So, I am very happy with my stay and certainly I'll come back.The location was walking distance to everything I wanted to see and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Central, clean.Friendly staff, breakfast was nice, rooms were spotlessly clean, the hotel is within walking distance of most attractions. Close to the center (10 min walk to Parliament/Rathaus), reasonableprice, good breakfast, large rooms.The breacfast. breakfast :). I liked the big breakfast buffet, the price of the room, my room itself, and the overall spaciousness of the place. The hostel in central, clean, nice staff, good services but the rooms are very basic. For the price it is ok.Clean hotel, good location, good breakfast. it was very cleen. I received a lot of help from the Receiptionist to find out how to catch any transportation to get to the airport very early in the morning. It's very close to the center of the city. My room had a balcony, whichI liked. Good internet speed.the location. Excelent location, cheap price, OK breakfast. That I was not siturbed by anyone. That there were mainly young peopleliving there... The breakfast. Food. The location.The reception desk staff was friendly and capable. too many groups of young high school kids partying until late in the morning. the hallways are long, a strong echo is the consequence. Noisy hallways... Nothing really, one just has to realize that this is a hostel, so itdoes have dorm-style facilities and rooms. But still very good forthe money.Shared Bathroom. It is actually a student dormitory and the hallways and doors are very loud, and voices carry up the wide stairwell at night, waking you up rather too often.The furniture in the room and the walls. No towels, no sink in the room. it was a bit noisy on the hallways. Not a breakfast I could return to easily. to expensive as student haus, but there was no other choise. The cleaning staff was urging me about 10 o'clock in the morning however the check-out time is 12 p.m. only. I arrived to the hostel after midnight and I needed time to get up and leave.Common bathroom. And it wouldn't be a problem but the men's bathroom hadonly one toilet and two shower cabins for the entire floor (more than 30rooms). No wireless internet. You get a cable only if you pay 5E/24h.The cable was too short so I couldn't stay on the balcony. Although on asmall street, the area is pretty noisy. it is too old. I don't like the colour of the door and floor.One had to walk for smallest pee almost a mile. No sink in the room. The receptionist could have been a little more professional(not smilyingenough and she was a little tired I guess). The cleanning of the bathrooms was poor.Noisy students , boys enters in ladies bathroom , small conflicts. The furniture was too old , the walls were dirty and most of all we hadsome German neighbours that were extremely noisy during the nights andthe staff did not do anything make them respect our rest and quite.I never recommend anyone, if he has money, to go there,. The room was dirty. There was chewing gum stuck to the walls, themattresses were dusty with pieces of spring coming out. The smellycollective bathrooms were not cleaned often enough. But to crown theachievements of bad management, there was actually a band rehearsing inthe hotel basement at random times from 8 am to 11 pm. The noise was notunbearable, but was very disturbing.

From Vienna airport: Train or bus to Station Wien Mitte/Landstrasse, U3 to Volkstheater, tram 46 to Strozzigasse/Neubaugasse (2 stops). Turn right into Strozzigasse and take the first turning on the left into Pfeilgasse.
From West Railway Station: U6 to Thaliastrasse, tram 46 to Strozzigasse/Neubaugasse (2 stops). Across the street follow Strozzigasse and take the first turning on the left into Pfeilgasse.
From South Railway Station: Take bus 13A as far as Piaristengasse, walk on through Piaristengasse as far as Zeltgasse, turn left and walk as far as Pfeilgasse.
Car or bus:
From A1 (West): Pass Westbahnhof along Neubauguertel, turn right into Josefstaedterstrasse and right again into Lerchengasse. The first turning on the left is Pfeilgasse.
From A2, A22,A4 (all other directions): Go towards City centre as far as Ringstrasse, after the Parliament building turn left into Stadiongasse, continue straight ahead into Josefstaedterstrasse and turn left into Lerchengasse (look out for ACADEMIA hotel sign). In Lerchengasse take the first turning on the left into Pfeilgasse.
