the hostress, Phillipa (hope I didn't wrongly spell her name) was very kind. She welcomed us with delicious tea and cookies, and provided us some milk and cereal when she heard we had to catch up an early train and would miss the breakfast - hmm, the breakfast was quite good here. The room was clean and cozy, enough space and we even saw a deer outside the window. Overall it was really nice stay, I could understand why this guesthouse could get such a high rating.

My friend and I stayed there for 3 nights and were treated like family. Advice about places to go was plentiful and maps and brochures appeared out of nowhere.....we would definitely recommend staying here...it's a home from home. The lovely welcome and really super accommodation. Loved the owners and would have liked to stay longer. Easy to get to all places we wanted to visit and also had parking on the side of the property. Wonderful breakfasts. Enjoyed the TV and had our own key to come and go as we liked. -

We loved this b & B. This was the one of the best beds we slept in
while on our trip around England. Vince is a great host with good
recommendations on what to do and how to get there. Shirley is an
awesome cook and these were the best breakfasts we had in England. The
location is very good - a 15 minute walk from the town so that we could
enjoy wine with dinner and not worry about driving and there are lots of
good restaurants in Bowness-on-Windemere - just ask Vince!

Lovely stay, great breakfast. Heather looked after us and any made us feel really welcome. We were given a choice of two rooms on arrival which was great. Nothing was too much trouble. Heather was a lovely women who made me and my fiance very welcome.
The guest room was very clean and well presented and we had everything we needed and the breakfast was to die for. Heather always made sure we had everything we wanted or needed during our stay.
The location of Chestnuts was very good because it was a 15 minute walk to the shops and 20 minutes to the nearest lake.
Me and my fiance will be going back there very soon...

The owners had arranged a lovely basket of flowers for my wife as it was our anniversary but also upgraded our room what a lovely touch, a very clen and bright hotel lovely freindly staff in a great position. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and I also found that the recommendations of places to eat and sites to see were superb. Leigh, the owner, was fabulous she was very accommodating, beautiful
accommodation. Fab location, within walking distance of two towns. She
covered all the bases re local information and was fab value for money.
We didn't fancy full English so continental breakfast served to our
room was a lovely treat and included in room price, lovely touch. We
will be visiting again.
