  This was my first trip home in 15 years and first with my wife and two sons (we stayed two nights). We could not have asked for a better location - waking up to the most amazing view. The shops, bars and restaurants in town were a pleasant 10 minute walk. Our boys used the school field next door to play football. They loved skimming the flat stone... wat mensen zeggen » s on the beach into the surf. The apartment (no.1) was very clean, well equipped and the Husband & Wife managers were so helpful and nice. We woul - Cannot say enough good things about the place even though we only stayed 1 night. Very clean, very spacious, very comfortable to live in. We were very sad to leave! Wifi worked well, kitchen was modern and well equipped. Washing machine and dryer worked. Quality place and I will definitely be recommending this to anyone coming to Kaikoura.

  Austin Heights is the ideal place to stay in Kaikoura. It is located on an elevation outside the town, which can be reached by a quarter-hour walk down an attractive hillside path or a few minutes drive. Lynne and John, the owners, are friendly and helpful and made us very welcome in their home (as did Oscar, their irresistible Rag Doll cat). Our room was clean and comfortable, a - Beautifully furnushed upstairs room with views over the town and mountains. A supremely comfortable bed. A pleasant, if hilly, walk down through fields to the beach and two restaurants. It was a little way out of town so a car would be required for further restaurants and shops.

  Our stay at The Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge began with an easy check in at which time the owner upgraded us to a one bedroom free of charge. Nice!! The suite was spacious and well laid out with a well appointed kitchen and there was a walk out to a balcony with chairs and a table. The location was easy walking distance to town so we walked there ... wat mensen zeggen » to pick up dinner at a local fish and chip shop - blue cod grilled to perfection! Try the bbq shack down by the beach - we had crayfish (lobster) and - Excellent staff... The owners were helpful and informative, and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable. It far exceeded the usual tourist motel accommodation in NZ. There was also a playground opposite in alarge park for the kids to expend energy. Excellent accommodation, don't even consider anywhere else.
