  Austin Heights is the ideal place to stay in Kaikoura. It is located on an elevation outside the town, which can be reached by a quarter-hour walk down an attractive hillside path or a few minutes drive. Lynne and John, the owners, are friendly and helpful and made us very welcome in their home (as did Oscar, their irresistible Rag Doll cat). Our room was clean and comfortable, a - Beautifully furnushed upstairs room with views over the town and mountains. A supremely comfortable bed. A pleasant, if hilly, walk down through fields to the beach and two restaurants. It was a little way out of town so a car would be required for further restaurants and shops.

  Good location on main road but well set back so no road noise. Lovely views over farmland at back. Really friendly, lovely big room and bathroom. Nice breakfast. My son loved Crieghton the cockatoo. - Welcoming hosts. Tea and home baked cookies in the garden on arrival. Home cooked bread and fruits at breakfast.
