Wonderful host who couldnt have done more for us.. we left a bottle of wine in the fridge and she went to great effort to get it back to us. Not to mention the views are spectacular and is just a great place to stay. Thanks for everything! -

We enjoyed the owners. They came to the gate to meet us and gave us all the info about their property that we needed. It was well positioned for views over the ocean and (if it had not been foggy)we would have seen the "First Light". The sky at night was amazing and we were very pleased to hear the residents chose not to have street lights as that would pollute the skyviews at night.

Absolutely loved the service. Our hostess Raewyn greeted us in the most friendly way, and called us by name whenever we saw her. The hotel had a playground with a trampoline and swing set. Excellent place to stay in Kaikoura, note that it is about 3km from the center so you will definitely need a car.
Cottages are very quiet, absolutely clean; ours looked brand new and was very spacious.
Owner is a very kind person and has been very helpful at any time.
Kitchenette is very well equipped and if you want to relax there's a huge stack of DVDs at the reception to choose from.
We had a wonderful stay and we can recommend for sure this place.
Quality/price ratio is very good.

Very clean, very spacious, very comfortable to live in. We were very sad to leave!
Wifi worked well, kitchen was modern and well equipped. Washing machine and dryer worked.

We only had the opportunity to stay one night. Had we known what a lovely place it was, with such a fabulous location/views we would have altered our holiday to stay a little longer. The hotel is currently adding more accommodation upstairs and will be wonderful when complete. The restaurant Maxtons attached to the hotel is very good as well. -

Beautiful, clean and very homely feeling. Staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble, even offered to extend our checkout without our asking due to boat trip not finishing till after scheduled checkout time. Food in restaurant was amazing and reasonably priced. Will def recommend to anyone visiting Kiakoura.

The motel had everything i dreamed of and more. The owners of the place were MORE than hospitable and VERY helpful! They're both Beautiful people and I shall be visiting again hopefully in the not too distant future. Thank You so much for making our stay more than enjoyable. -

Our stay at The Kaikoura Gateway Motor Lodge began with an easy check in at which time the owner upgraded us to a one bedroom free of charge. Nice!! Excellent staff... The owners were helpful and informative, and the accommodation was spacious and comfortable. It far exceeded the usual tourist motel accommodation in NZ. There was also a playground opposite in alarge park for the kids to expend energy.
Excellent accommodation, don't even consider anywhere else.

All the facilities were very opulent. The breakfast was excellant. We didn't get a chance to sample the culinary delights but this was not a problem as we were warned in advance. The bedroom was very luxurious initially we were a little chilly but were provided with heaters on request and to be fair Chris had up graded us to the more superior

We loved the location of this motel and it is one of the cleanest we have stayed in. Excellent standard and the host couldn't do enough for us. We would definitely stay in a Bella Vista again if this is the normal standard. -
The owners were awesome , super friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean, comfortable and situated in a convenient place with a short walk into the township. Nest time I go to Kaikoura I will definitely be staying there. -
The manageress was extremely helpful when we decided to move on earlier than expected after the cancellation of our planned whale-watching trip and went out of her way to help us find accommodation at our next port-of-call.

All the units have a patio with table, chairs and their own BBQ though in the end we ate dinner at local restaurants rather than cooking.
