    Excellent hotel to stay in Mardin. Staff was EXTREMELY helpful. Perfect location. Nice and clean rooms. Beautiful stone building, amazing and peaceful view from the balcony.     The staff were excellent. The owner was gracious, friendly, and informative. Yusef, the driver/guide for guesthouse tours and local trips was wonderful. He was friendly, funny, and a font of information in various languages. I usually avoid guided tours like the plague, but I would suggest considering theirs. The hotel also hosted, for a month, d - Aslan, the owner, was courteous and generous in greeting us. He gave us a choice of the top floor rooms and offered to send one of his assistants to help transfer our luggage from the previous hotel. With his knowledge of the region and, given existing winter road conditions, we took one of tours offered by the guesthouse and conducted by Aslan himself.     Everyone there is extremely friendly and they made me feel very welcomed as soon as I stepped out of the car in the yard. The location is excellent, very close to the summit of Mount Nemrut. It is perfect if you want to watch the sunrise at the top (the major attraction there) and be back for breakfast. I enjoyed very much the se - Great position, close to Mt Nemrut. We enjoyed dinner at the Pension which is also good value. Rooms are simple but clean & warm. Mt Nemrut is great to visit & worth the climb... We read before hand it was going to be cold & we were prepared... It really, really is cold with the day we visited a sharp wind.... Cover your ears, take a sleeping bag... What ever it takes. Particularly if staying for sunset. As soon as you stop walking it's incredibly cold.

    I liked everything. The guesthouse has fantastic location, fabulous inner garden with beautiful design. Very safe environment. Staff members are excellent people, you cannot expect better treatment. They are such a nice people, open, warm, friendly, interesting, very helpful. Moreover, guesthouse support - I chose this guesthouse because of the beautiful flowers in the photos and the fact that it is connected to a women's cooperative. I couldn't have made a better choice. I was in Mardin to consider the possibility of pursuing dissertation research related to the local linguistic situation. The owners and staff of the guesthouse were so incredibly helpful in connecting me to people, that I can't imagine the difference had I not stayed there.     Sahmeran Otantik Pension is located right in Old Mardin, up an alleyway from the main street (Cumhuriyet Caddesi). The cool, cave-like rooms in this old building are a welcome refuge after a hot day's exploring. The staff is excellent; Mehmet Ali, in particular, is a friendly, easy- going guy with wide-ranging interests (photography, pets, Buddhis... what people say » m...). My last-minute change in plans were ungrudgingly accommodated despite some loss of commission to letsbookhotel.com. - -Ali is really friendly and speaks english which is very helpful -dormitory available, wich is nice for backpackers and rare in turkey -very authentic feeling to sleep in the stonewall rooms, which are cool even at summertime - the construction works at the stairway are finished and it looks good ;) like the rest of this historic city -I got breakfast after 11 am which they usually don't do, as I was told. Its appreciated! Thanks!
