I was there with my 2 teenaged children. We enjoyed our stay there. The place was exceptionally clean especially the beds with clean and crisp linen. They provide many pillows for our comfort. The bathroom was very very clean. The service was excellent and when we called to ask for anything, like the weighing machine for our bags and screwdriver for my son's toys, they bring it up all the way to our room. all reviews » The Breakfast was extremely sumptuous. There was a choice between American Breakfast (fried egg/omelette, 2 slices of toast, sausage, bacon, ham) or fried noodles or fried rice. Portions were generous. They also serve coffee/tea, orange juice and water at every breakfast. Rooms are very clean and spacious. Aircon works fine and toilets are very clean too. Location is very convenient - within 10 minutes walk to Ratchathewi Station and Platinum Mall/Pratunam Market. Many massage parlours nearby . The staff were exceptional. Frederick checked us in and was very helpful in recommending somewhere local to eat. The rooms were very clean bed spacious (often a hit or miss in Bangkok). Ideally located for Pratanum market and Platinum mall. Short tuk tuk ride to Siam Centre and beyond is easily done. Breakfast was good and we were entertained by a little boy taking our order and helping serve. The NooK is a genuinely nice place to stay and is in a quiet location. Cannot say enough about the gr. Location is excellent if your purpose is to shop at platinum/pratunam markets/pantip. Minutes to Ratchathewi bts which takes you to almost any tourist hotspots. Superb Value for money with all things considered. Bed is clean and comfy. Rooms equipped with powerful a/C. Humble breakfast is ample. Owner Frederic is a great help for anything from places to visit, buying tickets to attractions and even getting an ice pack for a sprained ankle (many thanks Fred). Would definitely stay here again whe. Perfect choice for those seeking for quiet and neat place to take a shower and to sleep to. And for very reasonable money! Very friendly and supportive personnel including the owner of the hotel who gave some very useful advises and recommendations related city sightseeing. Location is excellent and not so noise, except during the day when some noise have been heard from near by construction area. My recommendation for the persons who want to have short, up to 3-5 days accommodation in Bangkok for reasonable price in a good location. The room is big. The bed is excellent. The food is like home cooking. Skytrain and the BTS a distance walk. The owner is a westerner, he is extremely friendly, asking question any room for improvement, not your normal hotel service staff, he is very helpful, thank you for his hospitality feel like staying a his house rather than a hotel. He allowed us to keep our luggage & use showers for half a day without charge. He even booked us in a hotel nearby the next day as The Nook was full. Ideal location for visiting Palace, Wat Pho, China Town and the large mbk Shopping Centre. Several local street markets closeby too. Frederick the owner is a pleasant and helpful. Perfect location, walkable distance from Siam centre, Indra square, BTS etc. The owner manages it all on his own, he speaks perfect English and is very helpful. There is no hot water available in the hotel. They do not offer boilers as well, so you need to buy water from the nearby convenient stores (about 40 baht for 5l). If I had to be really picky, the toilets had a slight sewer smell which is entirely bearable to be honest but just put the w/c cover down and it'll be sorted. The step to the toilet is too high, almost tripped and fall because forgotten the step is high. Not very sound proof room, you can hear next room sound, so if u are staying with ur friend try not to talk so loud, next door might hear it... :). It is not a dislike, it is just a suggestion for the staff: a "written menu" would be helpful for breakfast, as nobody could understand the cute Thai guy's pronounciation so people simply didn't know what they had chosen for breakfast. :-). there is some room to improve the Breakfast veriety and put few posters on the white walls :-((. A few pictures on the walls would make it more homely as they are very bare. The internet was down the first day we got there but we were told so, and because it was free we did not mind one night without the internet. It was better again the following day. As a woman alone, after 21:00 be a bit carefull in the quiet streets behind the main streets (or better avoid) ... the neighbourhood attracts also dodgy tourists ... Sometimes the bathroom was smelly. Staffs who served the breakfast spoke very little English. There's tv in the room with hundreds channels but mostly in Thai. As a suggestion: An explanation about how to get there from the train station might be helpful. The staff hardly understand english. There was one american guy who waited long for his breakfast order because he wasn't understood by the staff. There were only 3 choices for breakfast - pad thai noodles, fried rice and american breakfast. Nothing that I can think off. wi-fi was poor, out of service most of time... nothing. The rooms had concrete floor, without any covering... windows in bathroom hadn't any hangings and there was other building close. the feeling during showering was strange ;). stinky toilet, obviously plumbing issue, the room felt very cold with tiles on the floor. Bathroom a bit smelly and the toilet is block. In our room there was no safe. It was a slight inconvenience. Smell in bathroom even spread to bedroom at night spoiling my wife's sleep. Owner says he he is addressing this with plumber. A shame because it spoils the other good points about this hotel. The hotel is not open 24 hours. They close of by 9.30PM. If any one calls you from outside, it will be difficult to reach. It would be great to have some information about the english channels in tv. But I think it's possibly to ask the hotel stuff about it. But it's like improvement :). Close, but not super close to the BTS You can smell the odours of Bangkok Uninspiring breakfast. Communication was a problem, apart from the owner of the hotel, all the other staff had very limited English.My stay included breakfast, which did not offer variety, I just put this down the fact it was a budget hotel. Cats and dogs roaming around in the reception area... Nothing. Only a small issue but not many english channels on TV. 1) I think it would be good to have kettle cos sometime would like hot drink at night. 2) No safe box. Same breakfast menu every day. Nothing... all is the best. simple room. Bathroom odor (smell of canal) can be improved. I hope they can add the water heater. Position of the air-con in the room, service provided at the reception, lack of deco in the room.
