  Austin Heights is the ideal place to stay in Kaikoura. It is located on an elevation outside the town, which can be reached by a quarter-hour walk down an attractive hillside path or a few minutes drive. Lynne and John, the owners, are friendly and helpful and made us very welcome in their home (as did Oscar, their irresistible Rag Doll cat). Our room was clean and comfortable, a - Beautifully furnushed upstairs room with views over the town and mountains. A supremely comfortable bed. A pleasant, if hilly, walk down through fields to the beach and two restaurants. It was a little way out of town so a car would be required for further restaurants and shops.

  Wonderful host who couldnt have done more for us.. we left a bottle of wine in the fridge and she went to great effort to get it back to us. Not to mention the views are spectacular and is just a great place to stay.
