Wellington Hotels

The only reason we gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 stars is that it is a little hard to get to. We booked on wotif.co.nz and the instructions printed on the confirmation were really good (plus, we had a GPS). When you pull into the parking ramp, you'll see glass doors to the reception area. It's a short walk down the hall to check in, then you'll have to move your car and bring your luggage in. The location of the hotel is excellent (it's in a tall tower) but there are A LOT of steps to get - Yingmei

Three of us stayed here 2 nights while in Wellington. We arrived in Wellington at about 8am on a Sunday morning and were allowed to check-in immediately (contacted the Ibis prior to arrival). While the room was very small, it is only one of the few affordable hotels that I could find in Wellington that would allow 3 people to stay in the same room. Also, we took advantage of an internet special and the room was practically a steal. I can't say enough about how helpful the staff was. Also, my fri - David

A friend and I stayed at the Mercure Wellington for 4 nights in July 2009. We arrived early in the morning and had no trouble checking in early. The first thing that struck us was the fantastic view over the city as we entered the room (room 609). We had 2 double/queen beds and a small table. We found that we had plenty of room to move about. The staff were lovely and very helpful. The restaurant food was plentiful and tasty. If you prepay your breakfast at the reception desk you will receive - Jette

I normally stay elsewhere in Wgtn but Trinity was only 5 minutes walk from meeting location so thought I'd try it, even though I'd read some negative reviews. So glad I did. Lovely clean, modern room (albeit small but the price was low for mid-week Wgtn). Highly recommend paying a small amount extra for cooked breakfast. Not the normal a la carte greasy bacon and over-stewed coffee . . . we were able to order off the menu (eggs benedict, yum) and have real coffee! More cost effective if there - Penderel

We stayed at the James Cook for three nights in July - I booked this through a website. Each night came with a little extra. First night was half price cocktails, second night was two free drinks, and third night was free parking and an upgrade. We were updraded as soon as we checked in which was great and were handed vouchers for two free drinks for each night of stay - we were even given two for the night of the 13th - but we did not arrive until early hours of the 14th, so they were of no - Robert
