What people say
Alez that is on reception is very nice, met me downstairs, explained everything about the room, how to switch on the lights, air conditioner etc. Always was ready to help and answer the questions, didn't bother me at all with his and was very friendly and nice. I stayed only two days and regretted that I haven't booked more nights bc there were no rooms available after two days and I had to change the hotel. People around were quiet and nice, nobody screamed at night or anything so IIliked it v. all reviews »
We stayed in a triple room for a week, we feel comfortable with the room
size. Plus, the sanitary, the quietness and the kindness of people are
beyond our satisfaction. Before the trip I did some research, we all
know that all hong kong's hotels are small comparing to other
places. So coming to Golden Maple Leaf makes me feel I made the right
decision, the experience in this hotel lace is way above my expectation.
I would highly recommend this place. As for the first floor vendors,
interestingl.
Getting to the hotel it's an adventure, Chingford Mansions it's a labyrinth of Indian shops and multitude of people. But once you've managed to get to the correct place and take the slow elevator you'll find a nice and very clean hotel with a friendly management. Yes, the rooms are small, but they are cleaned every day and look quite new.
The staff spoke English very well and were both helpful. Chungking Mansions may have a reputation for squalor but I enjoyed it. The building is a hive of market stalls and South Asian food.
Excellent, helpful staff. Close to metro and ferry. Very clean and adequate although really small room which was expected I guess. Great value for money compared to other options in T.T.T.
clean, small but funcional room with strong WIFI, a/c, hot water. The best u can got for this price in HK.
for little price everything you need
dont expect big room. it is very small but clean
nice location.
Owner was waiting when I finally arrived to check in at 2am. Very helpful and accommodating.
The host was very kind. We arrive at 3am and she was still smiley and friendly.
老板很好,飞机晚点,也等到我们入住,想得也很周到。房间很小,算上洗手间不到6个平方,但设施很齐全。离地铁站近,购物方便。重庆大厦比想象的安全。.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Great value for money.
Efficient and good value for money in an easy to access location.
Cheap, clean, a nice place to stay when going through Hong Kong.
Very clean and very helpful staff.
Very good location. Helpful staff.
Location very convenient.
location.
Nice location, even the room size is smaller than my expectation but here is HK. That's enough.
Nice staffs, you can buy cheap ticket of Disney land, The peak etc. from her.
-clean place
-good wifi signal
-friendly manager
-good location
-near MTR, near bus stop.
Block E is quieter and less smelly than other blocks in the Chungking Mansions.
location. The owner was extremely obliging and spoke good English.
The cubicle and bathroom were very clean.
Air-conditioner was excellent.
Individual boiler, hot water no problem.
Cold and boiling water in reception.
Huge space under the high bed for a family to live - is that an advantage?
Great Indian and Pakistani food in restaurant just around corner from lift.
All kinds of shops just downstairs. People friendly and helpful.
Very friendly community atmosphere in the Mansions.
Airport bus no .
Room cleaned daily. Aircon worked fine. Receptionist was pleasant.
Almost nothing.
The 'elevator wait'. This is not a problem from the hotel itself, but from the Chingford Mansions. Elevator are slow and eventually you can find some queue.
I never knew if it was night or day in the room! This is not really a negative as there is no way of changing things...you get what you pay for.
The only thing I would improve is the wi-fi. It did not work very well in the morning.
Dodgy hawkers out the front of the building. Be prepared for constant dodgy deals being thrown your way. I would not feel safe in the location if I was a female travelling by myself or with another female. Just a warning for potential bookers.
I received a room next to the front desk (room 27) - because of this I woke up several times (loud guests, fax machine, phone ring etc.). The staff was strange: I asked to print out a page which request was avoided - not even a reply like: I am sorry sir, we can't print... The building is a zoo.
Nothing. A pretty good deal- for HK.
Lifts to get to the 12F. Area underneath (Chungking Mansions itself) is a bit off-putting.
Internet connection was on and off all the time.
Very tiny room (well it's Hong Kong). Did not like the smell of curry downstairs.
Rooms very small. Entrance of the building is a bit of a sukh, dodgy market of everything, you have to go through to get the elevators, where you're likely to spend some time in a queue.
location.
Very busy and slow for elevator.
-cash payment (since we like to pay via credit card)
-the ground floor.
bugs.
there is only one lift to go to the hotel, crowded at the ground floor. We should called the reception to check in or check out. The hotel manager always asking : " what time we are living/check out ? It's very annoying ....The TV was unusable due to 'snow' on the screen. It had only one English channel, which was sport, in any case. The TV is meant for Chinese viewers.
The room was like a coffin, I exaggerate, a sarcophagus. Nowhere to put your things except a tiny two shelf bedside unit. No space for a chair. No natural light, very depressing, like being in a cell.
You couldn't tell if it was raining outside or not - long way to go to road to find out.
Many expensive shops and hotels outside.
.
Room is the size of a small bathroom. Room was too narrow for me (6ft 2in) to lie straight in bed. Only enough room for one person to stand up in the room at a time. The lift to reach 12th floor is a joke. The surrounding area is horrible - lots of hawkers & touts. Felt very unsafe in the lobby. Avoid Chungking Mansion at all costs.
