We had one of the rooms 50m away (#11) on the ground floor. Against all previous comments the room was absolutely fine. Spacious is different however the room was fully refurbished, nicely designed and the bathroom was also great but again very small. Also the room was not noisy as mentioned previously. The street is calm and with closed windows you hear nothing from it. You can hear noise from the floor (depending on the other guiests) and in the bathroom you may hear some neighbours but all i.

He was also just as nice when we left the last morning. He let us know where we could eat nearby, there is a really yummy patisserie up the road, and it is perfectly located. We explored the entire city in a day. Wonderful and want to go back. We know where we will stay. Located on a quiet street in the Marais, this charming hotel is a few minutes stroll to Place des Vosges, the Seine, Notre Dame, and great shops and restaurants. The rooms are immaculate, elegantly decorated, and have large bathrooms with fabulous showers. The staff is very kind and attentive. We highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return the next time we are in Paris!. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice, had a lot of options. Service was quick and courteous. We had to be moved to another hotel the first night because planned renovations to our room were not complete. When we moved back to St. Louis Hotel - Marais we were given an upgraded room and free breakfast at no charge. We thought the Hotel Saint-Louis Marais was a gem. Great location between metro stop and major shopping/restaurant street, yet quiet. Recently remodeled. Within half a block we found a great boulangerie, local bistro and laundromat. This is a wonderful boutique hotel in the historic Marais district of Paris, tucked away in a quiet street only a few hundred meters from all the action. The staff were always helpful and spoke perfect English while putting up with our feeble French. HSL was a delightful experience from start to finish. Since we were planning to have breakfast in some cafes on the street anyway not a real problem for us, however leaving the building for breakfast room would have not been my preferred option. The room was a bit tight, but there were two small closets, in which we were able to leave our bags. Honestly, there was not one thing wrong with our stay. This place a terrific home away from home. Look no further. I did not like the fact that that when we checked in - our room was not in the main building and the attendant did not escort us to the room - he gave us the key - pointed to the general direction and we were on our own to find it - which was at the end of the block - after a full apartment building - somewhat confusing not a good way to get a first impression of a hotel. Room was very snug with 4 people & one double bed a lot harder than the other. Would still stay there again!. Nothing. A little bit of noise from the stairs in the room, but nothing really bad. Bedroom doors have a gap at the bottom, I suppose because of uneven floors. However it does let in sounds of otherooms. As my room was on the ground floor the wet room drain had a foul odour. Not just a fault with the hotel as other properties around also suffer. Hotel put a liquid in the drain to counteract. The first night I was put in a ground floor room in an annexe off the Main Street a few hundred yards away from the main hotel. As a lone female I was unhappy with this arrangement and the next day I was moved into the main hotel. The rooms were all missing hotel information/area information etc, which made it hard when you wanted to call reception, learn more about the hotel/area. There is a light outside the room door that cannot be switched off and it bleeds through the door surround so not great for those who like to sleep in complete darkness. The soundproofing between rooms could be better. The doors on the rooms let in light and noise.... I would prefer to be given a room at a higher floor in order to have some view. Need to be comfortable with stairs if you stay on the upper floors - but it was fine, really. Rooms small. Not as many amenities as the larger chain hotels. The smell from bathroom - I think they need to ask someone for cleaning the tubes. Disappointed that our faulty kettle was not replaced once reported. Breakfast could be a little more exciting. Nothing. All fine. some cross room noise through walls. Lacks a reasonable lounge area. We were accommodated in a different room from that booked on the first night, without explanation. The attic room we eventually got was a bit cramped due to rafters intruding on the living space. When our bathroom malfunctioned and we were asked to have no showers on the last evening and morning (so as to avoid flooding downstairs) we would have appreciated some gesture in response, but nothing was offered. In our opinion that's quite a lot to ask. There was a constant foul smell. The breakfast was very poor. At first, we were 'put away' in a seperate building about 100 yds away in the the same street, where 3 very small rooms were made. After complaining, we were given a nice room in the main building the next day. Room 11 in the annex. Very noisy as I was next to street level front door entrance..... The matress and pillows were not of quality, the room was on first floor almost over the street and could hear everything from the lobby specially at night and dawn, the bathroom with awful smell because of plugged pipes. All rooms are different. Some of them even not in the main building. We were unlucky and got extremely poor sound proof moreover cold room on the ground floor. It's not fair.
