The Hotel Américain is a charming hotel set in the heart of the old area of Paris, called the Marais, surrounded by art galleries, cafés and young fashion designers.
Recently renovated, all guest rooms are soundproofed and fitted with bathroom, satellite television, telephone, Internet access and, for some of them, balcony.
Each morning, the breakfast is served in a period dining room with a vaulted ceiling and old stonework. A lounge is also available to fully relax.
Close to famous cultural sites like the Picasso Museum, the Pompidou Centre and the Opera Bastille, the Hotel Américain is also located a short walk from the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps department stores.

The hotel is great because it is friendly and clean and our room had a
great view of the roof tops. La Marais is a very interesting and
atmospheric location. It is easy to access the Seine and other places of
interest. We especially enjoyed the Jewish quarter and the falafels.
There also some great inexpensive cafe/restaurants near by.
The location was perfect for our Paris before Christmas weekend trip with an amazing short bus ride to Gare de Lyon.
Value for money and I especially liked that we were able to book a room with 3 single beds!
I liked the view of the Eiffel very much.

I like the hotel a lot and have chosen to stay there several times in
the last 2 years. I expect it is at the usual price for this part of
Paris but for me it is expensive. My room (405) was better than the one
I stayed in last year and I shall come again - just not as often as I
would like.
Simple but pleasant hotel, kept clean, courteous staff. Well-located for exploring Le Marais on foot, and close to Metro stations.
Perfect hotel for what we needed, the beds were comfortable, rooms clean, and the hotel perfectly-situated.

Easy check in. Not bothered when checking out late. Free wifi, personal log-ins for each device. Ground floor terrace in center, smoker friendly without it smelling like smoke. Great location - le marais and la republique, both a stone's throw away. As well as oberkamf.
the view of the room on the 4th floor was really cool. You can even see the Eiffel Tower. Loved having the balcony to sit there at night.

Nothing. It's an excellent hotel. It's just a bit pricey.
No kettle/tea/coffee or bar fridge in room (though not much space for this). Hand-held shower.
Little bit of a musty smell from the bathroom with no windows.
Not air conditioned...OK on all but the hot days.
Internet access log-in works for only one device. If you log on, you cannot log off to use it on another device.
