  We had the most amazing idyllic view from our balcony. The inn has seen its better days but it's wonderful still, beautiful gardens not fenced or gated like most other hotels in South Africa. Liked the fact that we could self cater or go to restaurant for breakfast. Even though restaurant closed in May during low guests they did offer room service for dinners.

  As disabled person i was concerned i would not be able to get around ,the facilities were excellent and very wheelchair friendly the staff and management was very helpful and pleasant to talk to.i thouroghly enjoyed my stay at the makaranga and would recommend it to all especially those that have disab... vad folk säger » lities - The whole place was amazing.   The hosts Gavin and Jenny were fabulous. They made us feel so welcome and at home. They and their staff are very professional in what they do. The quality of the food, breakfast and dinner, was very good. This is really a beautiful place to stay. the gardens are very luscious and green.   Kokstad is not a destination, more a place stay for a night on your way to But it is excellent for that purpose: quiet, just a few miles outside the town on a nice peace of land with a pond and very nice cabins and rooms. Nice staff. There is a restaurant (closed on Sundays) and dont forget to bring your own wine.   Basic but clean accommodation. Good hot showers in all rooms. Good but not exotic food. Lovely surroundings. Exceptionally friendly staff and owner in attendance. Informal atmosphere.   The owners were wonderful to us. Service was perfect. This small family built lodge has a few rooms in the middle of a beautiful jungle garden. We really enjoyed our stay. - Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fantastic!

  The grounds were beautifully kept. Staff very friendly and helpful. Value for money. Great breakfast. I enjoyed my short stay. - It was very close to where I needed to be. For work and for only 1 or 2 nights it was perfect.

  For an overnight this was a good choice; our arrival was late afternoon into Durban and we were nervous about driving in the dark. It quickly falls dark around 18.00, apparently year round. Quiet,clean & comfortable with plenty of hot water & good helpful staff.
