  Close to the lake and tourist information. Staff were very friendly but I wish that they had told us we had to order breakfast by 6pm the night before.   This was our best stay in NZ. The lady at the reception ( Elina) is so helpful. She gave us great advice as to when to leave for Milford sound, not to book unless you are going or lunch cruise, early morning tkts are easily available. She also upgraded us to a better room, the view from the room was excellent. My wife loved the place. Some people complain about sand flies in the room, but we had the windows open all night with no bites. Te Anau is a great location for visiting the sounds and the lakes.

  Location at Te Anau - fantastic area! Had a view of the mountains and a small balcony. Reception allowed us a very early check-in without asking, which was very kind. Stay here prior to, or after a day trip to Milford Sound. We wish we'd had two nights here. Although it's a dated hotel that needs restoration, the price is hard to beat. The journey from Te Anau is one of the best in NZ Quite spectacular Forget Queenstown and the bus tours stay in Te Anau its the only way to visit Fiordland.
