Royal Park Hotel The Kyoto . Simple. Everything about this hotel is fantastic! As expected, space is a premium in Japan, but this hotel's plan for our deluxe room uses the space perfectly and with style. Me and my partner stayed at New Miyako Hotel from 16th - 21st of August 2013. We can easily find the hotel as it's very close to Kyoto station. There's lots of shopping and eateries to choose from. The location was great. In front of Kyoto station. There is a shopping mall at the next block (AEON), where there are many stores, and also Daiso (100-yen shop). The Toji temple was near from this hotel, as well as Kyoto Aquarium. To get to most temples, travelers have to take bus lines, that are just across Kyoto station. Staff friendly. Money exchange inside the hotel.

The hotel was excellent value for money and the buffet breakfast was extensive and delicious.
The rooms were well appointed and comfortable, with more space than expected.
The staff spoke good English and were very helpful.
The hotel also runs a frequent shuttle bus too and from the JR Kyoto train station which is very convenient. -

There are not a lot of places to visit near to the hotel, but it is only a short walk to the stop for the bus to Gion. The hotel shuttle bus is great for getting to the station, from where you can get transport around the whole city.

A perfect hotel if you'd like to get away from the japanese business hotels with the small rooms. If you are traveling as a family or if you are older, this is the best choice in Kyoto as far as I'm concerned. The hotel is located on a rather busy street with lots of shops and restaurants, and also just a few minutes from the Kyoto shiyakusho-mae subway station, that will take you to and from Kyoto station. We only had one afternoon to spend from 2.00 pm onwards so it was great that it was so close to the Nijo Castle, then we walked down Nishiki Market near Shijo Dori. There is a nice little ramen restaurant in the corner of the street opposite Nijo Castle which we liked as they even have English menu.

The rooms were compact, but contained everything required. The location was within walking distance to grocery stores, restaurants, temples, the Nishiki market and surrounding shopping streets/department stores, Gion, as well as Kyoto station (more great shopping!), and was also very close to lots of public transport. Solid value for the money, particularly for a solo or business traveler. Not a lot of frills when it comes to the rooms and restaurant, but the public bath and relaxation room, plus the professionalism of the staff, make it well worth it.
It is a bit of a walk from neighborhoods that have a lot of eating and shopping options, but in exchange, it is quite while remaining central. Bicycle rental is convenient.

Relatively good location, literally a stone's throw away from central Kyoto.
The staff has been extremely friendly and the room is reasonably well insulated. Some of the older places in Japan aren't. -
