The immediate area around the hotel was mostly high density commercial - chain restaurants, chain hotels, a shopping mall, etc. but since the hotel was set back a good distance from the main road it was still quite quiet.   This was a great choice for me. My son graduated from Duke and all the hotels that were close were ridiculously expensive. Country Inn was maybe 20 minutes away by car and we loved it. My husband loved the pool and especially the hot tub after the long days spent walking across campus. The breakfast in the mornings was very good. I had two separate trips to the airport and they picked us up and brought us back with no hassle or wait. The breakfast was very fresh and the cookies were a welcomed treat during the day.

  I liked that when I mistakenly left a bag next to my car and drove off without it (in Asheville, NC,a staff member found it and immediately turned it over to the management. It had all of my medications, jewelry, expensive camera equipment - everything most important to me - in it. I was extremely grateful for the person's honesty and integrity... what people say » . I don't know who it was but the person deserves huge kudos. Hampton Inns are my favorite - once before (in Thomaston, ME)I left a precious ring. It - We stayed at the Hampton inn for our 24th wedding anniversary. We were greeted so kindly and was even given a gift certificate to a very nice restaurant as a gift for our anniversary. Even printed out menus so we could decide ahead if this would be a restaurant we would like to eat at. We were going to the Biltmore the Nxt day They gave us step by step directions to get there. We were very impressed we can't wait to go back and stay there again very soon.

  The lady managing the dining room for breakfast was outstanding ... Really. She was helpful, kind, friendly, smart, great with kids and adults. She deserves a raise ! - Staff was friendly. Room was comfortable and clean. Location was quite and near by my sporting event.
