The view from my room 3615 was once of the best I've ever seen. I also liked the staff of the hotel and the Tick Tock diner next door. Staff - service - location - room - comfort - decor - food at the Tit Tac Diner - and the staff was above and aboard the best. Lovely Art Deco decor and feel of the hotel, great location, courteous staff, very clean, and excellent diner.
all reviews » The room and the view. location. We got a refurbished room, and were the first guests to use it. The hotel is in a great location, easy to navigate around NYC from there. All staff were very friendly and curtious. And the Pizza place on the corner of 8th and 33rd has the best slices ever!. My shower wasn't working when i first got there and they fixed it immediately. The staff were super friendly and the hotel was in the most perfect location. I absolutely will be staying there again!!. friendly staff....near all the attractions....felt super safe in this hotel....they card ppl past a certain time during the night...It had a great location, and the renovated rooms were very nice and comfortable. A pretty good size for a NYC hotel. Great postion for amenities eg subway, shopping deli's. Central location. Short walk to Times Square, theatre district and Empire State Building. One block away from Penn Station, and connection to Newark Airport. One block away from Macy's. Subway stop outside. Large room, newly decorated. We had a lovely view from our room on 37th floor and beds are very comfortable and decorated in the Art Deco style.The beds, they are sooooooo comfortable. It was Close to the main points in city. May the aircondition was a bit too cold. Plus the view onto the Empire State Building directly from the bedroom.the hotel was very central, only a few blocks away from the main attractions also it was well known with the cab drivers witch made it easier. There was no seats or very few in the reception area. Noise from the street (8th Ave and 34th St) all through the night, but this is not unusual for Manhattan.Rooms are on the small side. The bathroom could do with updating. A more spacious room would have been appreciated, as well as a standard Queen size bed ; the one we had was barely larger than a standard double bed. By Austraalian standards it was expensive for the size of the rooms and no breakfast. However I realise that by New York standards it was normal.Our room didn't have minibar. prices and value for money additional fees for oher facilities. the service was not particularly friendly and personal, but with 800 rooms, it's not exactly a surprise... THe room is extremely small for the price I am paying, I could get bigger room just a few streets down, even nearer to Times Square. THe lights in the room is very dim with the yellow lights, thus making the room look even smaller. . Rooms are small. Renovations were going on in the lobby but not too obtrusive. You have to be lucky with the size of the room - we had very small room unfortunately. they charge you for leaving the baggage few hour in the hotel after you checked out. The catering facilities would have liked a coffee/tea in the room would have willingly paid the extra. No facility for tea/coffee making in the rooms - found this extradonaryconsidering the price of the rooms. Room very tight for space, bathroom a little tired looking. Rooms are small.Rooms are too small. Room was a bit small but ideal for a short stay. Staff were pleasant butnot very friendly. For example, we arrived at the hotel an hour earlyfor check in and were just bluntly told sorry, come back at 3, the roomis not ready. We have travelled extensively in the usa and have neverhad this response if we have been early.Paint peeling in bathroom. Basin wouldn't retain water. . Bathroom was too small that it was difficult to manuever when showering and changing clothes. Sink with counter space would be preferred over pedstal sink so that one could place clothing on sink counter since space was limited.Rooms small and tea and coffee facilities would be a big bonus. the location of my room it was noisey when my neighbor open the tab. The usage of computer is paid (and at an excessive cost). It would be good having water in each floor. The bathroom although recently renovated had no where for you to put your toothbrush and toiletries it would be helpful to have a shelf near the basin, also when we checked in and came to use the shower it did not work as it was hanging off the wall it took two requests to have it fixed it should never have been let out in the first place.I went to check in early and the room was not ready. Came back about a 2 1/2 hours later and was told the room needed to be inspected. Came back again about an hour later and the line was extrememly long. Its was taking a very long time for people to be checked in. I think check in may need to be worked on.
