I loved metro. Its exactly what you see in the pictures. No surprises. The app was bit old and so is the building yet I could see the effort they put into making it a bit nicer. The kitchen is great and has everything you might need. I saved a lot money not eating outside. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom more than decent and the studio overall its a good size. Its not a hotel, you get you own studio so there is no cleaning service unless you pay extra yet I loved knowing that no one was go.
all reviews » The service is outstanding! We checked in after long delays at the airport and lost baggages plus getting lost finding the hotel but it was all worth it. The front desk seeing our tired faces upgraded us free to a much bigger room and arranged a rollaway bed for our ten year old son immediately. We didn't even have to call and notify that our aircon wasn't working, they knocked on our doors and replaced the unit right away. The bed is really comfortable and everything is spick and span. Towel. Metro Apartments is ideally located with everything within walking distance.The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. But mostly the staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.That is especially true of Glen,the manager and Stella at reception.They did their utmost to take care of our every concern.It was my daughter's 21st birthday and we came to nyc to celebrate.I Found Metro Apartments the most reasonable budgetwise as we planned to stay for 6 . I will stay here everytime we come to NY. The staff is amazing, very friendly and ready to help no matter what. The suite was better than expected. Very modern and clean the amenites are great but they do not provide simple things like a hairdryer so bring your own. The location could not have been better for the price. It was a 5 min walk to times square and you are right in the middle of the best food district. The port authourity was also a 5 min walk so you have all subway lines right there. when i first got to my room i could not get the smile off my face! it was perfect! the location was great. I had read some terrible reviews prior to visiting Metro Apartments but i can honestly say, whoever wrote them reviews are crazy! I had a renovated room and it was beautiful. i cant see how anyone could complain about this place. I plan to visit NY a lot and i wouldn't consider staying anywhere else. Metro apartments will be my new home away from home. The location was great - off the main streets, but just a few minutes away from broadway and Times Square. So easy to reach and use the metro. Staff were helpful, great to have laundry facitlities that we could use since we were there for the week and loved having a balcony that we could enjoy the views and relax. Having free wifi in the room meant we could look up where places were etc. and was much appreciated. Excellent location, beside Times Square. Great facilities in terms of kitchenette i.e fridge, toaster, kettle and cooker. We could store food and make a quick bite to eat if we didn't have enough time to eat out for breakfast. Receptionist very helpful. Allowed us to use a computer and printer to check in for our return flights. Facility for storing suitcases when we checked out was also handy. location was fabulous it is a bit noisy through the week but when you are a 5 minute walk from times square who cares. it doesnt stop you sleeping. there is a subway nearby shops, restaurants galore, staff were very friendly and helpful. nothing was ever any bother! the river cruises all leave from the hudson which is also a 10 minute walk! would go back and stay in a hearbeat!. Fabulous location which was within walking distance to Times Square and Bus station. Very clean and comfortable for a very reasonable price ideal for families with a budget. Location wise is great, close to everything with lots of transport and restaurant just few blocks away, also very close to Hell's Kitchen where you find lots of great bars. Apartment are spacious and very clean. Walk distance to Timer square, Empire State Building and Penn Station. Metro apartments were fantastic and perfect for our week in New York. Close to everything - 10 mins from Times Square, 5 mins to Bus Terminal and Subway. Room size was good and kitchen and access to a laundry was great. Best coffee in New York is just around the corner at Java cafe and a supermarket is 5 mins also. Although others had complained that the apartments are noisy, we spent a cold week in early March at the Metro apartments and kept the double- paned windows closed. We thus had no problem at all with noise. We imagine that the locale might not be as agreeable in the summer if one leaves the windows open. The Metro Apartments were great. The position is fantastic, only a 7 minute walk to Times Square & 1 minute walk to several 'off broadway' theatres.The small kitchen was adequate & supplied pots, pans & plates etc. Definitely value for money. Cleanliness was high & staff good. Pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Staff were friendly and it came with free Wifi. Location was really close to major NYC attractions like Times Square, within a few minutes of walking distance and much cheaper than other hotels in the area. Great value for the money. The location was brilliant, a short walk and your at the main subway. Walk a little further and your at times Square. The receptionists were extremely helpful and I thought our apartment was far more than adequate for the price we paid. I actually loved it. Located only 10 min walk to Times Square. Right nearby to the Port Authority Bus Terminal so great for trains and buses all over the city and the airport. Facilities were great. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of accommodation in the this particular area of New York. It was very central,clean and comfortable. We have visited NY on three previous dates and stayed at Hotels which were inferior in quality to Metro. The fact that it was close to the Jacob Javits Convention Center so we could walk to the show every day. The hotel and the studio was very clean. The bath products of high quality. The staff especially Bill and David have been super helpful. Location, having an outdoor deck, flexibility in beds (ie twin beds plus fold up bed). Appliances worked. Very nice reception staff,especially Chris on night shift and the young man on day shift. And wifi was included, that was good. I enjoyed the location and the facilities were pleasant. The halls are old and have hand written papers with the number on it. Its so silly yet gives a weird first impression. The view from my studio was a horrible highway or whatever that was... Still, these are small details I really didn't care to much about. We like everything about the hotel so this is more of what's around it. It's next to a highway so expect loads of trucks who disregard pedestrians at crossings. The only minus was the floors in the bathroom could do with some levelling as the water wouldn't drain and left puddles. Being so close to the bus station and at a busy bit of town, there was traffic noise, but if you're used to city living anyway the noise is just part of the experience and you do tune it out. It would have been nice to have had some information in the room about the facilities (we'd to ask at reception where to find the laundry) and also about the city with tours etc, but you can pick up the tourist leaflets as you go and there were a couple of leaflets at reception. Blinds were broken. Windows very thin, draft and noise. Elevators in need of servicing. Going to wrong floors often. We don't want to moan about anything as we were very pleased with our stay but for constructive feedback would have preferred a dresser with a mirror in the bedroom or perhaps a full length mirror in one of the wardrobes. The down side is the intense noise from the road/port authority bus terminal early in the morning but that bothered me only one night till I get used to it!! Also room was equipped with microwave, however I could use it very often as did not have a power socket close by so everytime had to lift it up and move to a closest socket, so not really fit for purpose. But hey that is the only thing I would change on the apartment so I do recommend!!!. Located on a busy corner close to the bus terminal - but not an issue for us and we expected traffic noise while in New York anyway. The apartment's kitchen had all the basic necessities, which is a big point in its favor. However, we noted several minor inconveniences. 1)The microwave oven and coffeemaker had to be moved close to the stovetop to plug them in. A short extension cord would solve the problem. 2) A knife with a cutting edge would have come in handy. 3) A small table and two chairs would have permited a sit-down meal. Being close to the Bus terminal does make the apartment noisy, but with the window closed it did not bother me too much. We were on the 9th floor,so ask for that or higher for better noise filtering. The location is sadly very close to the Lincoln Tunnel and therefore there is a lot of noise, which is disturbing when trying to sleep. The windows are a little thin and let in a lot of noise. We knew by the previous reviews it would be a little noisy, not from the people in adjourning rooms but for the fact that the main bus station is right outside. Saying that I had no problems whatsoever sleeping. and I found it very clean. I would without doubt come back to this apartment again. There were only mirrors in the bathroom which made it a little bit tough when trying to get ready with someone else in the bathroom but only a suggestion, not a complaint. Noise of traffic (apartments are beside a bus terminal)! But we brought earplugs which sorted that out!. The noise is a problem and would not like to be there in summer as could not sleep if windows open. Although if tired enough can sleep through noise. Because our of room near to rubbish bin,unfortunately we saw a cochcroach running around.Other than that it's okay...it's clean. Aircon temperature could be slightly hotter.Despite the bus depot and loud engine sound,we manage to sleep well.Room rates could be much cheaper. Perhaps the close proximity to the Lincoln Tunnel was the only let down. Traffic was quite noisy. However we soon got used to this, and after first night didn't notice traffic. Area around 41st street is getting better (we stayed in this location in 2010). Basically just the noise of the air-conditioner in the room. It was so loud that we had to buy ear plugs and since it was so hot we needed it on. Outside noise was not too bad in the room. Powerpoints were loose, some didn't work - dodgy. The elevator broke down one day while we stayed there and so we had to walk to the 12th floor. The walls of the room were a bit too marked and could use a general cleanup periodically. The floor was quite dusty in the corners and under the furniture. Everything met or exceeded our expectations. noise from next apartment/no soundproofing. Noise from traffic- even though we were on the 12th floor we could hear the lorries Clanging on a grate in the junction outside (know there's nothing you can do about this or the grotty coolege building next door. Traffic noise - next to entrance to Lincoln Tunnel, which takes trucks and buses. If your at the back as we were I can understand people mentioning the noise and not too pleasent a view but we took it as part of the experience. Better windows would have helped as would control over our own heating. Most of the furniture in our room though serviceable was getting ready for an upgrade something I believe they are in the process if doing. The room could do with some finishing touches. The edges of the doors could have been painted and installed a little neater. The mirror over the closet was not properly placed for someone to open the closet, so the frame when I opened it. The elevators are a bit slow. The location of the apartment was directly underneath the approach to the Lincoln Tunnel. There was no cleaning each day. It was clean, but a small odor when we arrived, but no service while we were there. At the rear of the apartments was the infrastructure to the Port Authority Bus Station, this was constantly busy with the drone of engines which could be heard (even on the 11th floor) throughout the night. Although no fault of the Metro Apartments, close by there was a street which constantly had alcoholics/drug addicts and homeless people on it, way into the late evening, it could be a little intimidating to others. Room cleaning has to be requested for. The metro hotel has every thing I need in NY. Couldn't get wifi in the room BUT it was fine in the lobby. No maid service or towel changing The noise from the Lincoln Tunnel turnpike which the hotel abuts against. The rubby contingent on West 41st. Location is a bit near Lincoln Tunnel so can be noisy at times. Housekeeping is tough to obtain. The air conditioning was very noisy. But I would go again !. The streets are quite loud (also at night) because of all the traffic and busses in that area. If you stay here, make sure you get a room facing 41st Street. No light above kitchen table. Couldn't see what your eating. Only one towel rack in bathroom. Where do you hang your towel for four adults. On chairs, door knobs? Also couch didn't have any back pillows so very uncomfortable. Seemed like they were missing. A bit more direct lighting would be nice. Wi Fi was hard to get in room, but fine in lobby. Bathroom outlet didn't work. not a lot to dislike. - Extremely loud - Strange perfumed smell in the corridors (but not in the rooms). no vending machine, really needed a place to purchase food/drinks without leaving the apartments.
