  Check in was easy and quick and even though it was midnight the staff was very nice and welcoming. Plus there was fresh coffee the next morning! - Location was good, front desk was great friendly and helpful.

  Staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was so much better than I expected, better than most hotels I have stayed at in New York for less the half the price.   When I book a hotel in midtown Manhatten for under $200, I am happy with clean sheets, clean towels and a clean bathroom. I got all of this at Hotel 31. It is no frills, so anyone who comes from out of town expecting a luxury hotel and then complaining about this is sorely misguided when it comes to Manhattan hotel prices.   Perfect place to visit nyc and sleep after an exhausting day. The room was small and the mattress quite hard but we slept like babies. It was cleaned and the towels in the ensuite bathroom changed everyday. Staff couldn't be more helpful and nice. For the excellent price we also got breakfast consisting of coffee/tea and a lovely croissant/omelett... what people say » e, ham and cheese sandwich. - Besides the extremely helpful staff, I loved the wallpaper in the halls. I also loved the view and being in the "thick of things" - close to subway, easy walks to Little Italy, the Bowery, Financial districts. I also liked being able to practice Mandarin chinese!   I love this little Inn. It is by far the least expensive place to stay in Chelsea/Flatiron. It is not fancy by any means but it is quiet and the location is great. It's half a block off 5th ave shopping, two blocks from Union square and 2 blocks from 8th Ave in Chelsea. The rooms have a refrigerator which was rare to find for the price. The continental breakfast next door has - The location and the courteous staff! Very comfortable and quiet and clean and you can get the sense of actually living there when you stay in this wonderful historic building. I will always book at the Chelsea Inn whenever I travel to NYC. The location is central to Union Square Station, and only one block over from 5th Avenue. From here, it's easy to get to anywhere in this beautiful City!
