As soon as we arrived this hotel captured us. It's location was easy to find from the airport (though the driving on the other side of the road/car was a little taxing). The Standard sign placed upside down, the fire heated outside seating area, the colouful indoor waiting area with pool table, warm and welcoming staff with a hairdressers and shop all waiting when you enter. We were upgraded to a room with a larger bed and docking station (the bed being the biggest ive seen, let alone slept in).
all reviews » Everything was perfect. Excellent staff, special mention to Rodrigo, very helpful since the very beginning. The Rooftop is simply amazing, with a nice atmosphere and good music. We did not used the pool as it was always full, LOL. The location is also very good, with the 7th street Metro station 2 blocks away. Customer service at the front desk was excellent, very helpful, we loved the roof top bar and pool they have a nice range of German beer on tap. The bed was very comfy and the food at the Resturant was above average. Highly recommend this hotel!. The staff was very accommodating, knowledgeable and extremely nice. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in, in a hotel. I loved the magazines and reading material that was in my room. It was a funky, cool, hip place to stay!. The Standard has a crazy-awesome sense of humor. The little touches of whimsy and silliness throughout the hotel are just adorable and fun. Staff was phenomenal. Delightful rooftop, great food and drinks, just a lot of fun, really. The bed at the standard was the most comfortable bed i have ever slept on! All staff were extremely helpful and friendly during our stay. The 24 hour restaurant is divine. Loved the rooftop pool and ping pong table facilities too. The Standard has lots to offer. Being picky, parking was a little expensive as there are multiple parking spots competing for your business, over $30 per night was a little steep... Everything ran smooth. My bathroom needed an extra towel bar or somewhere to hang more than just one towel. Minor things: slow Internet and not enough hooks/racks to hang towels in the bathroom. Sooo minor, compared to how much is fun and wonderful about The Standard. The mattress is old and needs replacing. Far too soft. The room where the toilet is was too big-waste of space and a few of the lights in our room didn't work. The parking is far too expensive and the staff could definitely be friendlier and more helpful (ok, it's a cool place, but you should drop your attitude dudes). None. industrial theme decor didn't work for us, bed was on a kind of 'raft';. Parking limitations such as 10AM exit deadline for self-parked vehicles. There was no obvious sign for the hotel which made it difficult to find while we were driving. could be noisy if you were tired and wanted to sleep. bed was too low to the floor (like on it). Rooms so sparse as to lack functionality. I dont like the swiming pool. You cant relax because its more a bar, not a place for resting. too much people for a too small pool. guest noise late hours. the fee of parking is too expensive. Not Great Food Options in the Hotel. Noisy. Full of wannabe idiots. Approached by a drunken idiot wanting to pay us $20 to get him in to whatever was going on on the roof. Fool. Noisy. the noises from the rooftop!. could have been somewhat better design and furnitures in the rooms. Rooftop staff catered to trashy bar patrons and ignored actual paying guests. Super cheesy trashy club vibe. Standard should know who paying guests are and treat them as priority. U hear housekeeping early in the morning, too early!. We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night thinking we would spend a relaxing time poolside. However the rooftop pool and bar area is not just for the guests of the hotel. There were hoards of 20 year olds lining up outside the hotel to get in. Overrun with drunk party people. A hotel should be a home away from home not a nightclub. Design and people / visitors of the pool were quite cheap. room was bad, no bed base, tv practically on the floor, not properly clean. We didn't like the minimalism of the room. We paid a lot of money and felt we received nothing in return. House cleaning did not clean our room in the two nights we stayed there. We would not recommend or stay there again. Your rooms sucked. They looked cheap, you basically have two mattresses on the floor. It wasn't welcoming at all and def looked like it needed to be updated.
