  Out of context the rate seems a little bit expensive... But we compared with so many other hotels in the area, and I really think this was the best hotel for this price range! The location was amazing - north beach on one side and chinatown on the other; walking distance to fisherman's wharf... We really felt like we were in the heart of the city.... what people say » We felt very safe in the area. We used the parking garage and it was very safe & private, and I actually didn't mind paying for it because I woul - I did like they offered breakfast which other hotels in the area didn'T. Breakfast was simple: cereals, breads, juices, boiled eggs. The price was good compared to others in the area. I liked the location, I wouldn't normally stay in "china town" but I enjoyed the experience. One street over is North Beach, which isn't a "beach". More appropriate name should be "little italy"; very good italian restaurants. I would stay here again if the prices stayed the way they were.

  You can walk to the piers from this hotel, its .8 miles away so not bad at all.   Location cannot be beaten, for access to Fisherman's Wharf (one entrance is right on the wharf), with the tram stop right across from this entrance, car hire a few metres down the road, and the cable car a block away. Very convenient to wharf and other attractions. Thomas in reception was so helpful on the phone when we were on the way in traffic and trying to find out fastest way to get to hotel and on to pier 33 for our Alcatraz night tour. They also helped us book an airport shuttle for one person in our party.
