The Padre Hotel has been newly renovated and has a hip, chic vibe but yet they have kept their historic details that lend charm and character to the hotel. They have 3 restaurants that cater to all, from very casual to fine dining experience. They also have a nite club on the weekends. The rooms are nicely decorated and the beds are very comfortable. All in all a very good experience!. Great location for the purpose of our stop in Bakersfield which was to visit Buck Owens Crystal Palace. Was impressed with how modern the hotel is and our room was gorgeous, spacious, clean and THE MOST AMAZING BEDS!! Great staff too, quick with our valet parking. Informative of the area and generous in giving me a couple of extra decaf coffees for our room. Good price too.
all reviews » This is a very cool hotel in, of all places, Bakersfield. You could drop it down in the middle of San Francisco or Manhattan and it would be right at home. Terrific job of redoing a 1920s hotel. Great price and the meal we had in the restaurant was excellent. Watch out for weekends when there is a disco downstairs -- get a room on the opposite of the hotel. The rooms are clean, comfortable, well designed, and quiet. The Padre offers the Rooftop Lounge, 2nd floor patio, Farmacy, the Belvedere, and the billiard room which offer every level of entertainment and dining options. The morning coffee bar is wonderful! The Contemporary designs are well done and lively. The food in the in-house restaurants is terrific. Even the morning coffee was exceptional. The staff were exceptionally friendly. Our server for dinner was exceptionally knowledgeable about food topics. Interior architecture and graphics are fun and fresh. Older hotel that has been redesigned. Amazing place, nice design, huge rooms, huge bathroom, all very clean. Very comfortable bed and blankets. Nice restaurant and bar. We booked 3 days before our stay and the price for last minute was $50/room. Unbelievable! Best deal we had in USA. Definitely recommended!. What a FANTASTIC stay. The decor was fun and unique. Our room was fabulous... corner room with high ceilings, spacious bathroom, very comfortable. Great restaurant & coffee bar in the hotel, too!. I liked the fact that the hotel was in the middle of everything. It was conveniently located in the heart of the city and it was not hard to find at all. The hotel itself was beautiful. The hotel was lovely; the rooms were charming; the bed was fabulous. The Belvedere Room is a marvelous dining experience. The bar serves great drinks and is a "happening place". A gem of a boutique hotel hidden in Bakersfield. The hotel staff is very friendly and the bartenders are quite a card. If I ever have a reason to return I know where I'm staying. Room a good size and breakfast was reasonably priced and of good variety This hotel was included in our itinerary only as a comfort stop to break our journey to Palm Springs. Close to the freeway for a break from a long drive. There was nothing I didn't like about The Padre. It was all good. $10 extra for parking, but saver than leave on street. No breakfast, but for this price it's understandable. Just that it was downtown on a Sunday. Not much to do downtown on Sunday but certainly NOT the fault of the hotel. The coffee shop said it was open until midnight, yet we went to geta snack at 10:00 pm the guy said he was already closed. No fridge in the room, though we didn't need it for this trip. I'm not a fan of memory foam mattresses, but that's a personal preference. As I was heading to the parking garage to get my vehicle, the valet staff were quite in a rush. I would not trust the valet with my vehicle knowing how they play around as if it were a "race" to get the car out. Each time they went to get a car they sped out of the valet like it was nothing. With one exception, the staff were young novices who had no idea what good service means. In order to maintain The Padre's cachet, some of their staff should be formally trained in hotel management. Glass wall on shower/bathroom Majority of seating area in bar was on bar like stools not so comfortable for the older person. Nothing. The restaurant needs to be more in the standards of the area not try and be stuffed shirt type which it failed. Food was great service lacking. Everything was great, so no complains. Window was left open and I couldn't shut it. Used earplugs and it was fine, but it showed me a lack of attention to detail. nothing. You had to pay $10.00 for the valet overnight parking. The bed was just a little too soft for my comfort, but that is individual taste. Noisy. With a club and bar in the lobby, you hear music until 2 am. Nothing. Coffee maker in room didn't work, no refrigerater. The club Prairie Fire was closed. Elevators are a bit slow. Lighting in the bathroom; also not crazy about basement unisex bathroom, but could deal with it. The towels in my room were somewhat thread bare, the workout room is ridiculously small, would be nice if you had a pool or at least a spa.. Also, I had to contact the front desk to get my room made up since I was skipped for maid service.. You are not told that there is a cost to park until after you bood a room, the issue is not the cost, it is how you disclose it. no refrigerator no microwave no luggage holder. Lighting was too dim for my taste. and the fact that someone banged on my door at 2am, intoxicated was a little unsettling. Parking. Nothing to complain about at all. That u cant open the windows. No dedicated parking lot was available, its either valet for $10 or park on the street or in a free city parking structure that's open all night. Nothing. Valet and restaurants. WE were not informed that there is a VERY loud DISCO at the bottom of the hotel that literally shakes the rooms until after 2am EVERY Saturday and FRIDAY nights. NOT ROMANTIC!. They had a wedding . .an it was so noicey from our room.
